About You / What We Are Looking For


We have an exciting opportunity to join the Police Services team as a Victim Support Worker. The main responsibilities for this position include providing crisis intervention services and follow-up emotional support to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma. Other duties include providing information on victim rights, the criminal justice system, community programs, resources and referrals, as well as conducting court orientations and accompaniments.


The successful incumbent will have considerable knowledge of the rules and regulations governing program activities, as well as the practices and techniques of trauma-informed crisis intervention and follow-up support as related to the work performed. This position will provide direct services to victims and witnesses of crime and trauma, including emotional support, information and referrals, often under stressful circumstances. Depending on the type of crisis call out, you may need to stand for long periods of time, walk on uneven terrain or climb stairs.


This position will be covering shifts Monday to Friday 7:00am – 3:00pm or 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.


Minimum Qualifications


The ideal candidate will have a completion of Grade 12, preferably supplemented by courses in the field of social science, plus considerable related experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid class 5 Driver’s license is required. Applicants under consideration must obtain and maintain an RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance and Vulnerable Sector check.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Previous police-based, community based or court based Victim Services experience
  • Diploma or Degree in a field of social sciences.

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $35.84 - $42.16 (2025 rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
