Full job description

Do you love animals and love leading a team?

Sublime Cat N' Canine is a busy, family-style facility in South Edmonton offering cage-free dog daycare, dog and cat boarding, and grooming. We follow a LIMA approach (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive), meaning we always reach for the gentlest effective tool first and reserve anything more only for genuine safety situations. We're looking for a hands-on Facility Manager to lead our team, protect those standards, and help our staff do their best work.

This is a leadership role for someone who takes responsibility and runs with it. Our dog daycare and boarding programs are established and running at capacity, so that side of the job is about keeping a great thing great. Our cat boarding and grooming programs are actively growing, and you'll have real input into how that growth happens. This role is for an established leader. If you've built and managed a team before and you're ready to do it somewhere that values it, we'd love to hear from you.

Please note: because weekends are our busiest days, we need our manager here for most of them. However, we are flexible on the specifics and we'll work with you on a schedule that's sustainable.

What You'll Do

Lead the team

  • Hire, onboard, train, and schedule staff across the facility
  • Coach and develop team members; deliver feedback, performance check-ins and documentation
  • Set the tone for a respectful, professional, low-drama workplace
  • Handle conflict early and directly

Protect the animals

  • Uphold our LIMA handling standards across both dogs and cats
  • Ensure cat guests are monitored closely for appetite, litter box output, and stress; our cat care is low-handling and quiet by design
  • Respond to injuries, illness, and behavioural incidents; coordinate vet care and complete incident reports

Own the operations

  • Run daily open/close, floor flow, and staffing levels against dog and cat counts
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards
  • Oversee bookings, waitlists, and capacity planning across daycare, boarding, and grooming
  • Keep supplies stocked and equipment functional
  • Manage our systems (Paw Partner, Sling) and keep records accurate

Take care of clients

  • Handle inquiries, concerns, and escalations with warmth and clarity
  • Communicate honestly with pet parents about their animals
  • Support client onboarding and build the kind of trust that keeps people coming back

Help us grow

  • Support the expansion of our cat boarding and grooming programs
  • Identify capacity, staffing, and workflow needs as those departments scale
  • Bring ideas forward for new services and improvements

You're a Great Fit If You

  • Have supervisory or management experience, preferentially in pet care, veterinary, or another fast-paced service environment
  • Understand that cats communicate differently than dogs and need a quieter, lower-handling approach
  • Stay calm under pressure and can make decisions with initiative and autonomy
  • Communicate clearly and directly, in person and in writing
  • Are organized enough to document, follow up, and close loops
  • Genuinely enjoy developing people, not just managing tasks
  • Are comfortable on your feet through the day and can lift up to 40 lbs

Experience & Requirements

  • 2+ years in a leadership, supervisory, or management role (pet care industry strongly preferred)
  • Experience in daycare, boarding, kennel, grooming, or veterinary settings an asset
  • Familiarity with scheduling and booking software an asset
  • Pet first aid certification an asset (or willingness to obtain)
  • Must be available to work weekends regularly

What We Offer

  • Wage: $25-$32.50/hour, depending on experience
  • Full-time, permanent
  • Casual dress
  • On-site parking
  • Staff discount on services
  • Paid training and professional development
  • A genuine seat at the table - your input shapes the function and future of the company

How to Apply:

Please apply through Indeed with your resume and a cover letter about why this role interests you.

Please do not call or visit in person - our team is busy caring for clients and their pets.

Pay: $25.00-$32.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week

Benefits:

  • Discounted or free food
  • Flexible schedule
  • On-site parking
  • Store discount

Work Location: In person
