Full job description

Come grow with us in our AAFP designated Cat-Friendly Practice. Edmonton West Animal Hospital is looking for kennel attendants. Previous Veterinary Experience is preferred. Main duties including but not limited to-

- Ability to work EVENINGS and WEEKENDS will be given priority

- Walks through the kennel areas checking each animal individually for any abnormal activity such as vomiting, diarrhea, or blood in the cage or run. Reports all abnormal activity to supervisors, vets and techs, makes a note in the computer so the animal can be examined.

- Marks charts correctly for eating, drinking, fecal and urine production.

- Feeds and waters animals according to schedules.

- Cleans and disinfects cages, runs as needed using hoses and spray bottles of disinfectant. Uses a squeegee to remove excess water.

- Cleans cat litter boxes.

- Cleans and disinfects all food and water bowls.

- Picks up soiled bedding and moves it to the laundry area. Places clean bedding in runs with animals.

- Operates washer and dryer to clean kennel bedding and hospital laundry.

- Administers medications if told to do so to those animals that require medications while they are boarding.

- Records and labels all belongings.

- Walks all dogs.

- Sterilizes surgical equipment.

- Restrains animals as needed.

- Performs lab-work as needed.

- Maintains equipment.

- Provides friendly interaction with clients and animals. Ensures customer satisfaction.

- Maintains cleanliness of the entire hospital

- Manage appointment flow

- Answer phones and book appointments

Shifts will include evenings and weekends. Flexibility and vet experience is the key to get this position.
