Full time - Human Resources Manager - Vermilion & District Housing Foundation

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Department: Administration
Reports To: Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

Position Summary

Vermilion & District Housing Foundation is currently recruiting a full time permanent Human Resources Manager to join our team. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading all human resource functions at VDHF and serves as the organization's primary HR resource. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), this position provides strategic and operational leadership in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, staff development, occupational health and safety, policy development, compliance, and organizational culture.

As a member of the leadership team, the Human Resources Manager promotes a positive, safe, and inclusive workplace while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, workplace regulations, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, retention, and workforce planning.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR matters and workplace issues.
  • Coordinate attendance management, disability management, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work programs.
  • Lead employee wellness, engagement, recognition, and mental health initiatives.
  • Serve as Chair of the Occupational Health & Safety Committee and ensure compliance with OH&S legislation and best practices.
  • Coordinate staff training, orientation, leadership development, and mandatory education requirements.
  • In partnership with the CAO, develop, review, and implement organizational policies and procedures.
  • Support accreditation activities, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational risk management.
  • Administer employee benefits programs and support compensation reviews.
  • Serve as the site’s POPA Officer, ensuring the proper handling, processing, and distribution of privacy-related requests in compliance with applicable privacy regulations and organizational policies.
  • Coordinate student placements and volunteer HR processes as required.
  • Develop succession planning strategies and support organizational development initiatives.
  • Prepare HR reports, workforce metrics, and recommendations for the CAO, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPHR designation or willingness to obtain is considered an asset.
  • Minimum three to five years of progressive human resources experience.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, occupational health and safety requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR systems.

Working Relationships

Works closely with the CAO, CFO, Leadership Team, employees, Occupational Health & Safety Committee, external service providers, accreditation bodies, educational institutions, and community partners.
