Full job description

We are currently hiring Development Miners to support underground development and cut-and-fill mining operations. This role is responsible for a wide range of production activities including drilling, blasting, mucking, ground support installation, and general mine construction work.

Be part of a landmark mining project in Sudbury. Our client is a joint venture between global mining leaders, focused on advancing the next phase of development. This innovative project will unlock new copper and nickel resources by expanding existing underground infrastructure, creating a long-term operation with an estimated 20+ year mine life.

***This position is located in Sudbury, ON. There is no camp accommodations or relocation assistance provided.***

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform underground mining activities including drilling, blasting, mucking, and backfilling
  • Operate and set up equipment such as jumbos, bolters, scissor lifts, alimaks, and LHDs
  • Complete the full blasting cycle (load, prime, wire, clear, guard, and blast) safely and in compliance with standards
  • Install and maintain primary and secondary ground support (bolting, screening, cable bolts, shotcrete, etc.)
  • Construct underground structures including sill mats, barricades, fill fences, staging, and head covers
  • Load, haul, and manage ore/waste using mucking equipment
  • Tear down and safely relocate equipment as required
  • Drill and/or break oversized material when necessary
  • Read and follow engineering drawings, layouts, and survey lines
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and report hazards or equipment issues
  • Work safely and collaboratively while meeting production targets
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications/Prior Experience:

  • Must have Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core (U0000 to U0012) or equivalent provincial designation
  • Minimum of 2 years underground development experience required
  • Mechanized bolter experience required
  • Accreditation in the following specialty modules considered an asset:
    • U0018: Operate Mechanized Rock Bolter
    • U0020: Perform Trackless Haulage- Operate Scoop Tram- Remote Control
    • U0028: Operate Scissor Lift
    • U0068: Haulage Trackless- Operate Scoop Tram
    • U0089- Operate Mechanized Jumbo Drill
    • U0091- Operate Haulage Truck
  • Experience with Epiroc Jumbos, MacLean Bolters and Cat Scoops preferred
  • Previous experience using a jackleg and stoper considered an asset,
  • Committed to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment
