SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Planview Utility Services Ltd. Is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Inspector to ensure the safety, compliance, and quality of electrical installations for both buried and aerial utility infrastructure. This role involves field inspections, vendor coordination, and meticulous record keeping to meet ESA (Electrical Safety Authority) standards and regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Comprehensive Field Surveys: Execute full-scope inspections of utility assets, including pole line structures (aerial) and underground distribution systems (buried).

2. Data Acquisition: Gather precise GPS coordinates and spatial data for all inspected assets to ensure accurate mapping and GIS integration.

3. Structural Analysis: Evaluate pole line integrity, identifying issues such as rot, hardware failure, clearance violations, and structural stress.

4. Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering plans, utility maps, and blueprints to verify “as built” conditions against design specifications.

5. Buried & Aerial Oversight: Perform comprehensive inspections of underground (buried) and overhead (aerial) electrical utility assets.

6. Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all work meets ESA standards, provincial codes, and local utility specifications.

7. Design Verification: Conduct onsite reviews to verify that construction aligns with approved engineering designs and safety protocols.

8. Inspecting Secondary Service prior to construction for New, Upgraded or Relocated Secondary Services.

9. Drafting and issuing all documentation required for secondary service connection

10. Documentation & Photography: Capture high-quality pre- and post-inspection photographs to document site conditions and any identified deficiencies.

11. Detailed Reporting: Prepare and deliver comprehensive technical reports that synthesize field findings, survey data, and photographic evidence into a clear, professional format.

12. Code Mastery: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving electrical standards and utility codes.

13. Safety Leadership: Identify potential hazards and ensure onsite personnel adhere to Planview’s health and safety guidelines.

14. Submit time cards on a daily basis.

15. Maintain a clean driving abstract, and valid driving license.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Valid G license and clean driving abstract.

2. Working, reliable vehicle for daily travel required for the position.

EDUCATION:

1. A post-secondary degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Telecommunications Technology, or related field.

2. UWPC, preferred.

3. OACETT, preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

1. Proficiency in project management software and tools.

2. Strong understanding of utility infrastructure and construction processes.

3. Ability to interpret and manage technical documents, including field drawings and engineering specifications.

4. Familiarity with permitting and regulatory requirements related to utility projects.

5. Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in using field inspection tools and equipment.
  • Ability to document and report findings accurately.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in relevant software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, or Google Suite of Products (Docs and Sheets). d. General electrical knowledge.

WORKING SCHEDULE & LOCATION

➢ Monday to Friday (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM)

➢ Half hour lunch (Unpaid)

➢ Territory: GTA , GTA West
