About Emeri Matcha Bar

Emeri is a Vancouver-based matcha brand built on a simple belief: we don’t define the best matcha, we help you find yours.

We work directly with multi-generational farmers across Japan to source distinct expressions of matcha, each with its own character, balance, and story.

Our mission is to help people find a matcha that suits their palate while raising the bar for quality and experience across North America.

At our core, we are a hospitality-driven brand. We believe great hospitality is not just about service, but about how people feel. From the moment a guest walks in to the moment they leave, every interaction matters.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Store Manager to take ownership of Emeri Matcha Bar and lead its day-to-day operation.

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for the overall performance of the store, including the guest experience, team development, daily operations, labour, inventory, and store-level financial performance.

You'll work closely with the founders on the vision and direction of Emeri, while being trusted to independently lead the store and turn that vision into exceptional execution every day.

We're looking for someone who combines exceptional hospitality with strong operational discipline. Someone who can build a great team, develop future leaders, understand the numbers behind the business, improve systems, and still be willing to step onto the floor and whisk matcha alongside the team.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely cares about people and community. Someone who wants to create a place where people feel welcome, build meaningful relationships with our guests, and help us live our goal of leaving every guest a little better than before they walked through our doors.

What You’ll Be Responsible ForLead & Develop the Team

  • Lead, coach, and develop Assistant Managers, Shift Leaders, and Baristas
  • Own hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing team development
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance conversations
  • Identify and develop high-potential team members
  • Build a culture of accountability, care, and continuous improvement

Own the Guest Experience

  • Set and maintain a consistently high standard for hospitality
  • Ensure exceptional drink quality, presentation, cleanliness, pacing, and service
  • Be an active and visible leader during service
  • Coach the team in real time and maintain strong flow during peak periods
  • Step into any station when needed, from guest interactions to preparing and whisking matcha

Own Store Operations

  • Own scheduling and labour planning based on business needs
  • Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and stock levels
  • Maintain food safety, cleaning, maintenance, and operational standards
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and operational issues are proactively addressed
  • Own, develop, and continuously improve standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Identify gaps in existing processes and turn learnings into clear, repeatable systems
  • Ensure standards and SOPs are effectively trained and consistently followed
  • Continuously improve workflows, efficiency, and execution

Drive Store Performance

  • Take ownership of store-level P&L performance and key operating metrics
  • Monitor sales, labour, COGS, waste, productivity, and other KPIs
  • Manage labour and costs thoughtfully while protecting the guest experience
  • Identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
  • Work with the founders to establish store goals and translate them into actionable plans
  • Regularly communicate store performance, opportunities, and recommendations

Who This Is For

  • 3–5+ years of experience in cafés, restaurants, hospitality, or other service-driven environments
  • Previous experience managing a café or similarly high-volume hospitality operation
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing teams
  • Experience with scheduling, labour management, inventory, and store operations
  • Comfortable understanding P&L performance and store-level KPIs
  • Experience creating or improving operational processes and SOPs
  • Calm, composed, and decisive in fast-paced environments
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable giving clear feedback and holding people accountable
  • Takes ownership and can operate independently
  • Genuinely cares about hospitality and developing people
  • Willing to work alongside the team and lead from the floor

Experience in specialty coffee, tea, premium hospitality, or a high-standard independent café is a strong plus.

Requirements

  • FoodSafe Level 1 preferred, or willingness to obtain shortly after hiring
  • Weekend availability and flexibility based on the needs of the business
  • Ability to work on your feet in a fast-paced café environment
  • This is a hands-on leadership role, typically structured around four days per week leading alongside the team on the floor and one dedicated management day for scheduling, inventory, team development, planning, and operational improvements

Compensation & Benefits

  • $29.00/hour + tips
  • Performance-based bonus tied to individual and store performance
  • Complimentary staff food and drinks during shifts
  • Product discounts
  • Team events, outings, and gatherings
  • Clear path to General Manager and broader leadership opportunities as Emeri grows

Why Emeri

You're not joining an established chain to simply maintain someone else's playbook. You're joining a growing independent brand with the opportunity to help us build one.

You'll have the autonomy to run the store, the support of founders who care deeply about the details, and the opportunity to build a team and operating culture that can grow with Emeri.

As Emeri grows, we want our leaders to grow with us. For the right person, this role has a clear path toward General Manager and broader operational leadership.

Our goal is to create a place where guests leave a little better than before they stepped in, and where our team has the opportunity to learn, grow, and become better at what they do.

If you're someone who cares deeply about hospitality, develops great people, takes pride in running an exceptional operation, and wants to help build something from an early stage, we'd love to meet you.
