Assistant General Manager

About the Opportunity

This is a unique opportunity to join the opening leadership team for ALVA by Murrieta’s, the newest concept from Murrieta’s Hospitality. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping culture, standards, and execution from the ground up, contributing to a high-profile opening.

The Assistant General Manager will be onboarded in advance of the launch and trained within one of our existing operating restaurants. This hands-on training period provides the opportunity to learn our systems, culture, and service standards in a live environment, ensuring you are well-prepared to help lead the new concept through a successful opening and beyond.

About Us

Murrieta’s Hospitality is a high-performing restaurant group dedicated to delivering exceptional food, beverage, and hospitality in a vibrant, guest-driven environment. Our approach combines strong operational standards with genuine, personable service.

Established in 2001 with the opening of Murrieta’s West Coast Bar & Grill, the group expanded into the mountain market with its Canmore location and has continued to grow with concepts such as Borough Bar & Grill in Calgary’s University District.

We are committed to building a leadership team that values culture, accountability, and results. As we continue to evolve, we are excited to introduce ALVA by Murrieta’s, opening this summer in the Edison Building.

The Role

The Assistant General Manager supports overall restaurant operations, team development, and guest experience, working closely with the General Manager and Culinary Team. • Support inventory, ordering, and cost control initiatives
  • Uphold health, safety, and employment standards compliance
  • Act as Manager on Duty, maintaining a strong on-floor leadership presence
  • Handle guest feedback and service recovery with professionalism
  • Partner with the General Manager on financial performance, reporting, and improvement plans
  • Drive sales through service execution and local initiatives
  • Foster a culture of accountability, communication, and team engagement

Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years of restaurant leadership experience (AGM, Bar Manager, or Senior Manager level)
  • Experience in a high-volume, polished casual or upscale environment preferred
  • Strong understanding of labour management and cost controls
  • Comfortable with scheduling, reporting, and operational systems
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills
  • Proven ability to lead from the floor
  • Calm and effective under pressure
  • Guest-first mindset with strong problem-solving abilities
