Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for an Academic Assessment Administrator to join our team in Burnaby!
The Academic Assessment Administrator is responsible for administering the evaluation of academic qualifications, advising staff and other partners on policies and procedures, and providing support staff services to volunteer panels and subcommittees. Responsibilities include evaluating applications for the academic requirements stage of the credentialing process. The incumbent specializes in administering the academic review process and provides support to the Academic Examiners Subcommittee (AES) and the Geoscience Credentials Assessment Panel (GCAP). The incumbent also administers and delivers a range of credentials programs and services at an advanced level.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Evaluates non-academically qualified engineering applications and participates in the evaluation of academics of geoscience candidates; identifies degrees and their level of accreditation and fulfilment of academic requirements with respect to the Act, Bylaws, and Credentials Committee policies.
- Researches schools and degrees not accredited or considered to be substantially equivalent to an accredited program; categorizes and provides appropriate process routing for applicants, indicating whether they are academically qualified or non-academically qualified.
- Communicates with and counsels applicants during the assessment and decision stages of their applications. Advises staff on application of academic policies and recommended path forward for applicants.
- Prepares training documentation, trains, provides guidance to, and indirectly supervises the Registration Coordinator, Academic Assessment and other staff who support the academic assessment process for applicants.
- Coordinates with Engineers Canada to obtain updated academic syllabi for engineering disciplines; solicits AES input on proposed new/revised syllabi; produces and publishes Engineers and Geoscientists BC versions of the checklist and syllabi.
- Provides input and assistance on potential policy revisions to facilitate process improvements.
- Coordinates the distribution of files to the AES and GCAP: uploads completed applications to volunteer reviewers, provides assistance and guidance for reviews, and processes the results upon receipt.
- Identifies and develops items for Credentials Committee and Geoscience Subcommittee agendas; attends Credentials Committee and Geoscience Subcommittee meetings when required; communicates resulting decisions to applicants.
- Tracks the AES and GCAP review status and volunteer workloads; identifies future needs and assists in recruitment and training of new volunteers; prepares and facilitates an annual AES meeting for policy and process review.
- Assists with Registration Reception by advising applicants and other interested parties about the policies and procedures of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s credentialing, how best to apply, how best to submit required documentation, what criteria need to be met for an open application, and the estimated timelines for the completion of applications.
- Other duties as assigned by direct leader and, as appropriate, members of the divisional leadership team.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- 5-7 years of previous relevant experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Human Resources, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Additional training in credentials evaluation is an asset.
- Experience in career development, experiential education, career advising or mentoring.
- Project management experience including management of time and priorities, budgets, schedules, vendor relationships, and partner consultation.
- The ability to collaborate effectively and productively at a peer level with senior subject matter experts across a variety of disciplines, and with professional engineer volunteers, applicants and staff in similar organizations.
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research including policy and policy analysis.
- Strong organizational skills and goal orientation including the use of logical, systematic and orderly procedures to meet objectives.
- Strong communication skills including clear and succinct writing and presentation skills.
