Combining more than 1,400 full-time faculty, 2,700 full-time administrative staff, and 37,700 full-time students, Western has established itself as a globally recognized destination for academic excellence and leadership development achieved through learning and research. Western prepares future leaders to succeed, providing life-long opportunities for intellectual, social, and cultural growth to better serve our communities. Western University’s vision is to be a destination of choice for the world’s brightest minds seeking an exceptional student experience at a leading Canadian research university. With a strong global reputation for academic excellence, research impact, and leadership development, Western prepares students to thrive academically, socially, and professionally while contributing meaningfully to their communities.
The Office of the Registrar supports students’ academic pursuits as well as Western’s strategic priorities by delivering an array of integrated services in a professional environment, while maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of student information throughout the student lifecycle.
About the Role
The Associate Registrar, Student Financial Services leads the strategic and operational delivery of student financial services at Western, ensuring that systems, policies, and practices are aligned with institutional priorities and evolving student needs.
This role is accountable for the integrity, compliance, and effectiveness of all financial interactions between the university and its students. The incumbent will champion service excellence, leveraging data, technology, and continuous improvement to enhance the student financial experience. Working collaboratively across faculties and administrative units, the Associate Registrar ensures that financial processes are transparent, equitable, and responsive, supporting Western’s commitment to accessibility and student success.
Why this Work Matters
Student financial services are foundational to access, equity, and student success at Western. Behind every tuition payment, financial aid decision, and award allocation is a student navigating critical financial moments that shape their ability to begin, continue, and complete their education.
As Associate Registrar, Student Financial Services, you will lead work that ensures these interactions are not only operationally sound, but transparent, compassionate, and student-centred. Your leadership will influence how students experience affordability, understand their financial responsibilities, and access the supports they need to succeed. In a landscape of increasing financial complexity and evolving student expectations, this role is essential to maintaining trust, ensuring compliance, and advancing equitable access to education. Through strategic leadership and continuous improvement, you will help remove financial barriers and strengthen Western’s commitment to an inclusive and supportive student experience.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate is a collaborative and forward-thinking leader with deep expertise in student financial services, financial aid administration, or a similarly complex financial environment. You bring a university degree in a related discipline, with a graduate degree considered an asset, along with extensive experience leading large-scale operations and managing high-performing teams.
You possess a strong understanding of financial aid programs, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements, and have demonstrated success in navigating complex policy environments with precision and sound judgment. Your experience includes leading change initiatives, improving processes, and implementing innovative, student-centred service solutions.
With exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, you are able to interpret complex data, assess risk, and support informed decision-making. You are also an effective communicator who can translate technical or regulatory information into clear, actionable insights, and confidently advise and influence senior leaders and stakeholders across the institution.
Western Values Diversity
The University invites applications from all qualified individuals. Western is committed to employment equity and diversity in the workplace and welcomes applications from women, members of racialized groups/visible minorities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation, and persons of any gender identity or gender expression.
Accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process. If you require accommodations for interviews or other meetings, please contact Human Resources or phone 519-661-2194.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
