UAV Pilot

Position Summary:

The UAV Pilot is the liaison with the customer, subcontractors, and other individuals involved at the inspection site. You are responsible to the Technical Development Manager for ensuring that the daily operational tasking is met in a safe and efficient manner.

As the Pilot, you will ensure that airworthiness standards are met both operationally and at the inspection site and must be familiar with various aspects of confined spaces and underground mining for the safe and efficient conduct of the UAV inspection operations.

You are the primary point-of-contact for any flight safety related occurrences or issues arising from operations. You will prepare and distribute the post-inspection operations reports to the Technical Development Manager and identify any deficiencies or situations that are developing that could impact future or ongoing operational tasking

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform the pre-flight checks and inspections of UAV System
  • Fly the UAV as the primary pilot/operator
  • Be familiar with the normal operating procedures and the emergency procedures
  • Coordinate with the on-site contact
  • Assist in the deployment and setup of the UAV System
  • Prepare the post-inspection report and maintain proper records and documentation
  • Oversee and ensure battery and UAV flight logs and records are complete and recorded
  • Use and update operator manuals
  • Responsible for implementation of operational decisions such as dealing with onsite emergencies and mission updates
  • Perform the daily and routine maintenance inspections of the UAV System
  • Carry out maintenance inspections, fault diagnosis and rectification as necessary
  • Complete all maintenance inspections, fault diagnosis and rectification of the Air Vehicle components and VTPR tasks (Visual and Thermal Payload Readiness)
  • Implement software upgrades to the UAV System components as required
  • Conduct and interpret Built-In-Test (BIT) and subsystem test programs
  • Assist the Technical Development Manager in the performance of his/her duties
  • Position UAS Inc. as the premier supplier of confined space, and underground inspections services, flight training, repairs, and promote the Flyability Elios Drone

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.

Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in management role.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in FPV & BVLOS operations an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in a flight supervisory role
  • Strong management skills
  • Willing to be trained and committed to the task
  • Experience working with both small and large teams
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Underground experience/qualifications will be considered an asset
