Full job description

Title: Customer Service Professional
Reports to: Branch Manager
Location: 545 Queensway West, Simcoe, ON

Position Summary:

The Customer Service Professionals (CSP) are responsible for providing World Class Customer Service for all contractors, builders and residential customers. The Customer Service Professional must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers, gain an understanding of customer needs as they pertain to the construction industry, and meet those needs in an optimal fashion.

Health and Safety:

  • Commitment to safety by following company safety rules and regulations, which includes: following the uniform policy, wearing proper PPE, identifying and reporting unsafe conditions or hazards, maintaining a clean and neat work environment.

Customer Service:

  • Follows Turkstra's approach to World Class Customer Service.
  • Greets and advises customers by providing useful knowledge of products and services; utilizes resources where required.
  • Assists customers in making the best selections for their specified project.
  • Seeks to earn 100% of the customer's business (100% wallet share).
  • Develops and maintains conflict resolution skills, effectively de-escalates customer issues. - Level 4

Daily Operations:

  • Follows proper sales procedures and proper scheduling of delivery services.
  • Responsible for maintaining branch appearance according to branch standards guidelines.
  • Accurately closes tills, and reconciles all discrepancies. - Level 2
  • Effectively processes special orders. Creates the proper purchase order in the appropriate branch, including following up with vendors for order confirmations. - Level 2
  • Contributes to Inventory Management by assisting with inventory management with the use of barcode scanners, ensuring that shelves are front-faced, overstock brought down to flush-fill shelves, reviewing stock adjustments, negative inventory reporting, deadstock reporting and slow moving reports, and assists with receiving PO's. - Level 3

Business Objectives:

  • Works together with the Branch team to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Promotes the Turkstra Mill, Truss and Panel Plant, Lawson Lumber, and Turkstra Design Centre as part of our complete company offering.
  • Supports the Turkstra Build-it-Better program.
  • Participates in social media opportunities and assists the Marketing Team by providing relevant content for web and social media. - Level 3

Training and Development:

  • Completes all LMS course assignments within assigned timeframe.
  • Assists in the training and support of coworkers (when and where appropriate).
  • Completes level 1 K8 learning path and effectively demonstrates knowledge and comprehension.
  • Complete level 1 retail sales learning path and effectively demonstrate knowledge and comprehension.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for any and all other duties as may be required from time to time in accordance with proper training and certification requirements.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • General interest in the construction industry.
  • Experience or knowledge with related products and services.
  • Vocational training is an asset.
  • Experience in construction industry is an asset.

Abilities/Skill Requirements:

  • Customer focused.
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Product Knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • General math and measuring skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace work environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • This role involves lifting and moving building materials up to 66 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
