OVERVIEW

Opening in Fall 2026, Tanya Taylor is bringing its signature color, artistry, and spirit to Summerhill Toronto, Ontario with a brand new boutique in the heart of town.

As Retail Store Manager, you will serve as the brand’s leader on the ground responsible for building and mentoring a dynamic team, driving top line sales, delivering exceptional client experiences and ensuring flawless execution of all store operations. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a store from the ground up and expand Tanya Taylor’s presence in an exciting new market.We are seeking someone who is both highly analytical and deeply client focused—someone who leads from the floor, inspires their team, continuously identifies opportunities to elevate the business, and serves as a true ambassador for Tanya Taylor within the Summerhill community. This is an opportunity for an entrepreneurial retail leader to take a new and growing boutique to its next phase.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business & Sales Performance:

  • Serve as the brand ambassador of Tanya Taylor in Summerhill and own the overall performance of the Summerhill boutique, driving weekly, monthly and seasonal sales goals
  • Analyze business trends, client insights and product performance to identify opportunities and develop action plans
  • Lead from the sales floor, setting the standard for selling, styling, and client service while coaching the team to maximize results
  • Drive local marketing initiatives, events and community partnerships to increase brand awareness and customer acquisition
  • Own the store’s clienteling strategy, ensuring a consistent cadence of outreach, relationship building, and personalized service
  • Maintain a deep understanding of the Summerhill customer, including lifestyle, social calendar, seasonal needs and shopping behaviors to inform selling strategies and local opportunities
  • Partner with corporate team on assortment strategy and product feedback
  • Analyze selling and support DTC + sales team on annual forecasts and goal setting for team

Client Management:

  • Build and nurture a high retention client strategy through elevated service and thoughtful outreach
  • Leverage CRM tools to grow and maintain a client book tailored to the local market
  • Introduce your existing client base to the Tanya Taylor brand and new location
  • Create a robust private appointment culture and manage external stylists who bring clients into the store
  • Grow and develop a high performing client book while coaching the team to build meaningful, long term customer relationships
  • Develop relationships with external stylists and key community influencers

Team Management & Leadership:

  • Recruit, hire, onboard and develop a high performing, service first retail team
  • Foster a positive, motivating, accountable and inclusive team culture aligned with the Tanya Taylor brand
  • Manage scheduling, timecards and payroll with accuracy and adherence to policies
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching conversations and development planning to support employee growth and retention
  • Implement clear training programs and SOPs to empower team performance and consistency
  • Address performance, attendance and employee relations concerns in partnership with leadership where appropriate

Operations & Administration:

  • Manage overall store budget and payroll planning
  • Maintain an elevated store environment from visual standards to music to staff presentation
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, weekly deliveries, and shrink prevention
  • Create opening/closing procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and safety protocols
  • Work closely with the logistics team to ensure that appropriate stock and assortment levels are met and that weekly deliveries are received
  • Ensure compliance with Ontario employment standards, health & safety and company policies
  • Monitor staffing levels and support recruitment planning based on business needs
  • Support safe store operations and loss prevention initiatives

Visual Merchandising:

  • Partner with corporate teams to execute the Tanya Taylor visual identity and seasonal storytelling in store
  • Ensure the selling floor is continuously optimized based on client feedback, product performance, and business priorities

Reporting:

  • Share regular business updates, sales insights, and client feedback with corporate leadership
  • Communicate opportunities, challenges and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
  • Support executive reporting, seasonal business reviews and strategic planning

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of previous retail management experience, preferably in womenswear or luxury
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding financial sales goals
  • Proficient in retail analytics
  • Strong understanding of luxury or contemporary retail clientele and relationship driven selling environments preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and client building skills
  • Experience managing and developing a team
  • Proficiency in POS systems; Shopify a plus
  • Knowledge of inventory processes and CRM strategies
  • Understanding of luxury clientele, elevated service environments and the Summerhill / Toronto customer market
  • Strong connection to the Summerhill community and an understanding of the local client base, social landscape, and luxury market preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including evenings, weekends and key retail periods
  • Build and maintain meaningful client relationships through exceptional service, personalized styling, outreach and community engagement, while leading the team in developing a strong and loyal client base.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience coaching, developing, and holding teams accountable to high standards
