JOB DESCRIPTION

Boom Truck Operator/ Delivery Driver

Summary

Our store is committed to achieving Home Hardware’s service standards, while providing the customers with the best shopping experience possible. A Boom Truck Operator’s primary responsibility is to ensure the proper loading (secure and protected from elements) and delivery of lumber and building material orders as well as proper vehicle inspections. Secondarily, they are responsible for completing assigned tasks in the yard, including serving customers, building loads for delivery, tidying lifts of lumber, and maintaining a clean lumber shed and yard.

Job Responsibilities

· Driving a heavy commercial vehicle (valid DZ or AZ license);

. Operation of boom (valid boom operator certificate with experience)

· Safe operation of the boom, forklifts, and other equipment, for loading and unloading building materials;

· Ability to repeatedly lift over 60lbs, and walk up and down stairs while delivering material;

· Deliver the product to customers in a timely and safe manner;

· Check invoices and verify correct product and quantities are provided;

· Proper maintenance and cleanliness of all work vehicles;

· Communicate sales opportunities to the sales team;

· Greet customers warmly and ensure a good customer experience;

· Assist Home Hardware customers in loading product safely and efficiently;

· Assist with the daily upkeep of the department including off-loading trucks, culling lumber, organizing stock, cleaning, price labelling, & maintaining pallets/stock;

· Maintain accurate inventory counts, and auditing incoming and outgoing material;

· Maintain proper security over the perimeter of the lumber yard and delivery documents;

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment for employees and customers;

· Opening and closing duties as needed in the Yard;

· Comply with policies and procedures regarding loss prevention, breakage of goods and health and safety;

· Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Core Competencies

· Must possess a valid AZ/DZ driver’s license and have a good driving record.

. Must possess a valid boom operator certificate with a minimum of 1 year experience;

. Must have experience driving manual transmission;

· Customer service oriented;

· Ability to work outside in all conditions;

· Related experience and knowledge;

· Knowledge of local routes and roadways.

· Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills;

· Ability to work independently or with a team;

· Previous forklift experiences;

This position reports to the General Manager, Yard Manager, and the Yard Supervisor.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$31.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
