Now Hiring: Class 1 Drivers (with previous paving or highway construction experience)

Join a Leader in Highway Construction

West-Can Seal Coating Inc. (WCS) is a privately owned highway maintenance company specializing in pavement preservation and roadway construction across Western Canada. For nearly 40 years, we have completed contracts across Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba for both public and private sectors. We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the upcoming construction season to join us on the road as we build Western Canada’s infrastructure.

Class 1 Drivers (Highway Construction) - $30.00

Drivers are responsible for operating and driving various trucks within our fleet, including dump trucks, equipment floats, Super B's, and tri-axle trailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safe transportation of sand, gravel, construction equipment, and asphalt emulsion.
  • Performing thorough pre- and post-trip inspections.
  • Maintaining accurate electronic logbooks (ELD) in compliance with Federal Hours of Service.
  • Performing minor preventative maintenance and refueling.
  • Assisting with the safe loading and securement of cargo.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Placing, moving, and dismantling traffic control devices (signs, cones, barricades).
  • Using hand and power tools, shovels, rakes, and squeegees for material placement.
  • Cleaning and preparing asphalt screeds and other equipment.
  • Assisting with spotting, flagging, and site cleanup.
  • Supporting the operation of rollers or loaders as required.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous highway or road construction experience is highly preferred.
  • Licensing for Drivers: Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with air brake endorsement. Experience with manual transmissions is preferred.
  • Driving Record: A clean 5-year Commercial Drivers Abstract (fewer than 6 demerits).
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks including bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Availability: Willingness to work overtime and travel to remote project sites for multi-week deployments.
  • Safety: Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is mandatory for these safety-sensitive positions.
