Part-Time Class 1 Driver – Container Transport

About the Role

As a Part-Time Class 1 Driver with Riverside Warehousing Ltd., you will play an important role in our transportation operations. Your primary responsibility will be completing scheduled runs to Halifax port facilities to transport empty shipping containers. Drivers typically travel to Halifax with an empty chassis and return with an empty container, averaging 2–3 runs per week.

Additional responsibilities include conducting vehicle inspections, securing containers, maintaining required documentation, and assisting with general yard and property maintenance as needed. This position offers consistent part-time work with predictable hours, and drivers are typically home by 5:00 PM each day.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Transporting empty shipping containers from Halifax to Moncton.
  • Conducting pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ensuring all loads are transported safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate trip records and documentation.
  • Communicating effectively with dispatch and operations staff.
  • Loading and unloading containers as required.
  • Securing containers and loads using straps and other approved methods.
  • Assisting with other driving, yard, and transportation-related duties as required.

Qualifications & Physical Requirements

  • Valid Class 1 Driver's License.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • Strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability and willingness to work safely in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold temperatures.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing the demands of the job.
  • Able to repeatedly throw and secure straps, climb in and out of trucks and equipment, and safely load and unload containers.
  • Capable of performing repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
  • Experience hauling containers is considered an asset but is not required.
