Full job description

Postnatal Care Specialist — Vancouver Contract | Flexible Scheduling | In-Home Care

Join a 5-Star Care Team Expanding to BC

Alma Care is bringing its award-winning postnatal care model to Vancouver — and we're looking for compassionate postpartum care professionals to be part of it from the ground up.

Since launching in Ontario, we've supported hundreds of families through one of life's most vulnerable transitions, earning a 5-star satisfaction rating with a team of 100+ care professionals. Our model draws on traditional Southeast Asian postpartum practices — centred on rest, nourishment, and dedicated support — delivered in a modern, evidence-informed way.

We’re focused on deeply relational, 1:1 care where your skills directly shape a family's experience during the postpartum period and have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with them.

What You'll Do

As a Postnatal Care Specialist, you'll provide proactive in-home postpartum support for mothers and newborns, including:

  • Supporting mom's physical and emotional recovery
  • Guiding feeding, sleep habits, soothing, bathing, and newborn routines
  • Providing lactation support and postpartum education
  • Preparing nourishing meals and light household support
  • Facilitating Alma Care infant care workshops

Shift Types

  • Daytime shifts (minimum 4 hours)
  • Overnight shifts (10–12 hours) — our overnight specialists are the primary support for mom and baby through the night; this role requires you to remain alert and awake for the duration of the shift

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience supporting postpartum women and newborns
  • Breastfeeding and newborn sleep support experience
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (within past year)
  • Valid Infant CPR (Level C) and First Aid
  • Food Handler certification (preferred)
  • Personal professional liability insurance
  • Reliable transportation within a 40km radius
  • Experienced Certified doulas, RNs, RPNs and internationally trained nurses/midwives,
  • Night Nurses, Infant Care Specialists strongly preferred

Why Alma Care

  • Flexible contract scheduling — you set your availability (ideal for nurses seeking supplemental income, a career transition, or a return from leave)
  • Use your clinical skills differently — focused, relationship-based care with one family at a time
  • Join at the founding team in BC — shape how we build the Vancouver team, with the backing of an established Ontario operation
  • Training and resources included — full onboarding through our proven care ecosystem

Experience with multiples is an asset.
