Career Opportunity
Help build a quieter, smoother, and more reliable rail system for the future. In this role, you’ll assess track health, tackle noise and vibration challenges, and design improvements that elevate safety and performance across the subway network. Your engineering decisions will shape the standards, components, and systems that keep the city’s transit running at its best.
What You Will Do
Provides engineering expertise in the assessment of the condition of the subway track network, and develops solutions to ensure safe, reliable and efficient track systems that are in compliance with established maintenance standards. Investigates noise and vibration issues and proposes solutions, including rail lubrication and management of wheel/rail interface. Performs design reviews of existing track components and systems. Develops technical specifications for track components, system and track related construction projects, conducts condition surveys, diagnoses site conditions and provides root cause assessments.
You will demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. You will help to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is mandatory.
- You have completed a university degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
- You have several years of experience in the track or roadway design field where specialized techniques are learned.
- Knowledge of American Railway Engineering Maintenance Association (A.R.E.M.A.) requirements and industry standards and procedures are important.
- Must possess a valid non-probationary Province of Ontario class “G” driver’s license
- Must also have the ability to carry out detailed design analysis, technical feasibility and constructability studies; evaluate alternative proposals; and assess construction impacts.
- Must be proficient in using engineering software and database tools to analyze data, identify trends, and produce statistical and economic insights.
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
