· Provide input into employee scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary matters in collaboration with management.

· Perform hands‑on building and equipment maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance that is beyond the scope of the Maintenance Technician role and / or non-routine as required.

· Oversee inspection, servicing, and basic repair of agency‑owned equipment, tools, and machinery.

· Support management by monitoring compliance with health and safety requirements and reporting hazards or incidents.

· Assist with preparing for and supporting external inspections (e.g., fire safety, HVAC, equipment servicing) and ensure follow‑up actions are completed.

· Identify maintenance, equipment, and safety issues and escalate recommendations to the Manager as needed.

· Coordinate vendor and contractor services as directed.

· Maintain accurate maintenance, safety, and equipment service records, including tracking/closing work orders.

· Support grounds maintenance, snow removal, and on‑call or seasonal operational needs.

· Communicate and follow-up effectively with internal stakeholders regarding maintenance schedules and service impacts.

· Monitor and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and materials, and identify replenishment needs.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

· Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.

· Ability to complete all other required agency, safety, and regulatory training.

· Ability to work independently across multiple sites.

· Valid full G Ontario driver’s license and ability to operate agency vehicles with attachments.

· Post‑secondary training in facilities, trades or related fields is an asset.

· Trade certification or 3-5 years of progressive experience in building, facilities, or equipment maintenance is an asset.

· Current ladder training, Work at Heights certification and First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain and maintain.

· Values that align with the goals and mission of Community Living Kingston and District.

· Demonstrated experience providing direction or supervision to staff.

· Practical experience maintaining tools, mechanical equipment, and powered machinery.

· Strong working knowledge of building systems, preventative maintenance, and equipment operation.

· Ability to diagnose maintenance and equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective action.

· Strong organizational skills to supervise multiple sites, assets, and competing priorities.

· Solid computer skills, including email and electronic work‑order or maintenance tracking systems.

· Established track record of excellent work attendance.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, including the need to interact with persons served, families, staff, contractors, and tradespeople on a regular basis and clear written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to exercise mature judgment and sensitivity in supporting people with disabilities.

· Demonstrated core competencies in the areas of advocating for others, collaboration, creative problem solving and decision making, fostering independence in others, initiative, resilience and interpersonal relationships and respect.

Working Conditions:

· Significant physical activity includes lifting, bending, kneeling, climbing, and operation of hand and power tools.

· Travel between multiple agency sites using the assigned fleet vehicle.

· Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and mechanical equipment as part of regular duties.

Hours of Work:

· Note that this position is intended to work 40 hours per week, generally weekdays, Monday to Friday.
