The Opportunity

We are seeking a Sea Freight Pricing Analyst to support the Corporate Sea Freight Department. In this role, you will act as a liaison between our corporate and regional offices, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of internal pricing systems, maintaining tariffs, and preparing reports that support business decisions and operational efficiency.

In addition, you will audit, update, and maintain pricing information, collaborate with sales, operations, and management teams, and provide analytical support to help deliver competitive pricing solutions and exceptional service to both internal stakeholders and customers.


What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external pricing-related inquiries, ensuring a high level of customer service and timely issue resolution.
  • Meet with, maintain and assist management with the strong rapport with customers and ocean carrier Build and maintain strong working relationships with ocean carriers, and internal stakeholders to support business objectives and service excellence.
  • Support carrier negotiations by assisting with the procurement of competitive freight rates an commercial terms, including free time, surcharges, validity periods, handling fees, and payment terms.
  • Assist in forecasting shipment volumes, securing carrier allocations, and monitoring market conditions, capacity, and rate developments affecting the Canadian ocean freight business.
  • Support the development and implementation of pricing strategies, bid responses, and rate guidelines to maximize profitability and market competitiveness.
  • Maintain, update, and audit carrier contracts, tariffs, rate databases, and internal pricing systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and analyze pricing reports, rate comparisons, market intelligence, and performance metrics to support strategic decision-making and business development initiatives.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, and Management teams to develop competitive pricing solutions for new business opportunities, customer tenders, and existing account reviews.
  • Monitor global trade lanes, carrier developments, and market trends, providing regular updates and insights to sales and operational teams.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and maintain awareness of industry pricing practices, market conditions, and competitor activities.
  • Support compliance with company policies, quality standards, and ISO procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, strategic initiatives, and continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and commercial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all company health, safety, and security policies and promptly report any concerns or incidents.
  • Provide backup support to team members during periods of high workload, vacations, and unforeseen absences.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and promoting best practices.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as required by management.


What You Bring

  • Formal academic training in business, marketing or related field and 2-5 years or more experience within the Ocean freight business – ideally in a similar position with a freight forwarder.
  • Industry certifications such as CIFFA, CCLP, CSCMP, or other logistics and supply chain credentials are considered an asset.
  • Experience working with ocean carrier contracts, freight rate management, and tender/bid processes is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret complex pricing data, market trends, and carrier rate structures.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to develop reports, dashboards, spreadsheets, and pricing models to support business decisions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, carriers, sales teams, and senior management
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of freight forwarding, carrier procurement, and market dynamics.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.


Compensation: Salary range starting from $45,000.00 to $65,000.00 per year, with opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance and contribution.
