Job Summary

We are seeking Telecommunications Field Technicians to join our team. The Telecommunications Field Technician is responsible for testing, maintenance, repair, and servicing of various types of radio and wireless equipment, and servicing/construction of telecom towers.

This is a safety sensitive position. A pre-employment drug and alcohol test will be required. Employees are also subject to ongoing testing in accordance with company policies and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Running splicing, testing, and troubleshooting of cat5, cat6, coax, fiber.
• Conducting regular inspections, locating, and repairing defects.
• Keeping work sites organized and properly labeled.
• Maintain accurate and complete project documentation, including testing results, photographs, redlines, deficiencies, material usage, and other required project records.
• Take ownership of field execution by reviewing the Scope of Work and project requirements in advance, confirming the necessary materials, tools, equipment, information, and logistics are in place, and proactively addressing any gaps that could prevent the work from being completed safely, correctly, and on schedule.
• Verify completed installations against the Scope of Work, drawings, specifications, and client requirements, and ensure deficiencies are corrected before leaving site.
• Communicate project issues, missing information, material shortages, site conditions, schedule impacts, or other risks as early as possible to the Project Manager or Project Coordinator.
• Use sound judgment and technical knowledge to troubleshoot field conditions and work collaboratively with the project team to develop practical solutions when conditions differ from the planned Scope of Work.
• Complete all required testing, commissioning, redlines, photographs, documentation, and site closeout requirements before considering the work complete.
• Maintain and account for company tools, equipment, vehicles, materials, and rental equipment assigned to the project.
• Adhering to all safety measures, including field assessment, toolbox meetings, PPE, and any other requirements by AT 3CIS, client and regulations.
• Stay current on technical knowledge of IP networks, wireless communications, and any other industry specific requirements.
• Maintain all the required certifications which may include but are not limited to tower climbing, rigging, high angle rescue, and any other required technical, installation, safety, and manufacture certifications.
• Must be willing to travel to various locations in and out of province, with overnight stay.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in telecommunications.
• Rock climbing or experience working at heights is an asset.
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to travel in and outside of the province.
