Company Description:

Swift Underground specializes in telecommunication infrastructure construction and is based in Steinbach, Manitoba. We use industry-leading equipment and technologies to construct, service, and repair telecommunications towers and related equipment for service providers in Manitoba, Western Canada, and Ontario.

Position Summary:

The Tower Rigger Foreman role is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the on-site supervision and direction of our existing crews of Tower Riggers while performing the construction and maintenance of telecommunications towers and the installation and servicing of various related equipment. This position is responsible for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the quality standards expected by Swift Underground and our customers.

This role involves climbing and working at various heights, assembling and erecting towers, installing and servicing various telecommunications equipment and cabling systems, completing physically demanding tasks, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

This position requires regular travel for out-of-town projects throughout Manitoba, Western Canada, and Ontario. Specialized tools, equipment, and required personal protective equipment are provided.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and supervise tower rigging crews during construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of telecommunications towers and related infrastructure.
  • Plan and coordinate daily work activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
  • Assign tasks, provide direction, mentor crew members, and monitor work quality and productivity.
  • Climb telecommunications towers and other vertical structures to install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair telecommunications equipment and infrastructure.
  • Lead the assembly, erection, modification, maintenance, and removal of telecommunications towers, mounts, platforms, and structural components.
  • Assist with tower foundation construction, site preparation, concrete work, and installation of tower base components as required.
  • Conduct visual inspections of tower structures, equipment, hardware, rigging gear, and safety systems, and report deficiencies or concerns to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, customers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding project progress, site conditions, and operational requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, safety documentation, equipment inspections, and timesheets.
  • Ensure company vehicles, trailers, tools, climbing equipment, and specialized equipment are maintained in clean and serviceable condition.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including overtime, based on project and operational needs.
  • Must be able to travel and work on out-of-town projects.

Position Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience climbing and working on telecommunications towers and other elevated structures.
  • Must be physically fit and capable of performing demanding work, including climbing, lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills. Previous experience leading or supervising crews is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to safely plan and coordinate field operations while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Strong commitment to following all company safety policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Ability to professionally communicate with customers, supervisors, project managers, and crew members.
  • Proficient in the safe use of power tools, hand tools, rigging equipment, and specialized telecommunications equipment.
  • Responsible and safety‑focused operation of company vehicles and equipment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required.
  • Technical knowledge of telecommunications equipment, including wireless radios and antennas, is considered an asset.
  • Valid tower climbing and rescue certification, fall protection and working at heights training, rigging training, or other related safety certifications are considered a strong asset.

Compensation:

Beginning salary of $32-$45/hr based on experience.

Daily per diem and company paid lodgings provided for eligible out-of-town projects (amount and eligibility based on project specifications and company policy).
