Full job description

Keltech Communications Inc. is a wireless communications company in Drayton Valley and we are looking for a Wireless Communications Technician to join our team. This role would be suitable for an experienced technician, preferably someone who has previously worked in the service industry and/or has relevant post secondary education.

As a Wireless Communications technician, your duties will include:

  • Tower climbing/rigging
  • Programming 2-way radios in shop and on site
  • Setting up, programming, testing & installing various radio, networking & other communication equipment at various locations throughout Alberta.
  • Installing 2-way radios and other equipment into vehicles
  • Keeping a clean and organized work area
  • Building and testing coax cables and network cables
  • Using test equipment to verify and troubleshoot communication issues
  • Obtaining and maintaining safety tickets (H2S, 1st aid, WHIMIS, Fall Arrest, Tower Rescue, MEWP/AWP)
  • Working overtime and being on an on-call rotation
  • Setup, test, and maintain rental inventory

We are looking for someone who is friendly, hardworking and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Have valid drivers' license with clean drivers' abstract
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to easily adapt to and learn new technologies
  • Previous IT knowledge and experience
  • A warm, approachable manner with the ability to work with others
  • At least two years experience in a technical service position
  • Extensive experience using computers and MS office software
  • Experience using POS systems

Preference will be given to candidates that:

  • Are able to work at heights
  • Are able to work alone
  • Have valid H2S, 1st Aid, WHIMIS, and Fall Arrest training
