Position Type: Full-time, Temporary (16-month Maternity Leave Coverage)
Anticipated Term Start: Late August / Early September 2026
Anticipated Term End: Early February 2028
Compensation: $55,000-$65,000, includes comprehensive benefits package following successful completion of 3-month probationary period.
Work Location: Kelowna Visitor Centre (must be Kelowna based)
JOB OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director of Community & Visitor Engagement, the Manager of Community & Visitor Engagement is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Tourism Kelowna's visitor servicing programs, Kelowna Visitor Centre operations, volunteer engagement activities, and Community & Visitor Engagement team.
This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences, supporting staff and volunteer success, maintaining operational excellence, and ensuring departmental goals and service standards are achieved. The Manager works closely with team members, volunteers, industry partners, and internal departments to support Tourism Kelowna's strategic priorities and community engagement objectives.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, supervise, coach, and support Community & Visitor Engagement team members and volunteers.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, and staff development activities.
- Conduct regular team meetings, performance discussions, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Foster a positive, service-oriented workplace culture aligned with Tourism Kelowna's values.
Operations & Visitor Servicing
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Kelowna Visitor Centre, Airport Visitor Kiosk, and other visitor servicing initiatives including mobile visitor servicing.
- Ensure visitor servicing standards, operational procedures, and customer service expectations are consistently achieved.
- Coordinate facilities, operational systems, equipment, and supplier relationships to support visitor servicing operations.
- Ensure departmental reporting and operations comply with Destination BC requirements and organizational policies.
- Assist with departmental planning, budgeting, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Support grant and funding applications, operational projects, and Community & Visitor Engagement initiatives.
- Maintain departmental records, schedules, payroll submissions, and administrative processes.
- Participate in organizational projects, cross-departmental initiatives, and strategic planning activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post-secondary education in Tourism, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience in tourism, hospitality, customer service, visitor servicing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, coordinating operations, and supporting employee development.
- Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving ability, and sound decision-making skills.
- Experience with scheduling, budgeting, reporting, payroll administration, and operational coordination is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Kelowna, the Central Okanagan, and local tourism experiences is considered an asset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn visitor servicing, scheduling, and reporting systems.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence required.
- Must be based in Kelowna.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
