What will you be doing!

• Planning, organizing, and controlling small-scale remediation and restoration projects from start to finish.
• Coordinating and overseeing hands-on remediation and restoration activities using multi-trade skillsets.
• Integrating work areas and disciplines by assessing scope, determining material requirements, and managing procurement activities.
• Implementing trade knowledge, methods, and best practices to complete field-based remediation and restoration work.
• Managing multiple work packages, resources, and priorities simultaneously to meet project objectives.
• Ensuring designs and work plans incorporate safety, quality, health, and environmental requirements.
• Identifying project risks and barriers and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Managing changes to project scope, schedule, and priorities as required.
• Reporting project progress and status updates to project leads and property owners.
• Coordinating with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to deliver work safely, on time, and on budget.
• Promoting a positive, inclusive work environment aligned with organizational values.
• Ensuring compliance with construction safety practices, radiation protection policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Collaborating with communications and stakeholder relations teams and supporting public-facing activities as required.
• Communicating effectively with suppliers and contractors to ensure project expectations and deliverables are met.

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • A college or university diploma/degree related to skilled trades is considered an asset.
• Experience
  • A college diploma with 2+ years of progressive project experience related to construction and/or remediation projects; or
  • 3+ years of progressive construction and/or remediation project experience with no formal post-secondary education.
  • Experience supervising contractors, consultant engineers, and vendors during field work and construction oversight.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with earthworks, excavation, backfill, grading, landscaping, and restoration activities.
  • Trades experience including carpentry, drywall, concrete placement, painting, flooring, and operation of construction equipment.
• Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of construction safety, Ontario Building Code requirements, and remediation project practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints, estimate costs and schedules, and maintain accurate project records.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a client- and stakeholder-facing approach.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adapting to changing project needs.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, accountability, and time management.
  • Valid driver’s licence with the ability to safely operate motor vehicles and equipment.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
• Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.

The CNL Historic Waste Program Management Office and the Port Hope Area Initiative projects are situated on the traditional lands of the Williams Treaties First Nations, specifically the Gunshot Treaty negotiated between the Crown and Mississauga Nation during the 1780s and represented today by the Williams Treaties First Nations. The Mississauga Nations are also signatories to various 18th and 19th century treaties that covered lands in different parts of south-central Ontario. In 1923, the Mississauga First Nations and the Chippewa First Nations consisting of Rama, Beausoleil and Georgina Island signed the Williams Treaties and together, over 90 years later in June 2018, joined to ensure that their rights and the relationship with these lands are respected through a renewed agreement with Canada and the province of Ontario. The area in which we are situated is also home to Indigenous Peoples from across the region and Canada.
