Full job description

A Chinese Cook specializes in preparing and cooking authentic Chinese cuisine using traditional techniques, ingredients and flavour profiles. They are responsible for delivering high-quality dishes while food safety standards and contributing to the overall dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare a variety of Chinese dishes, including stir-fries, dim sum, noodles, rice dishes, soups and regional specialities. Handle chopping, marinating and mixing ingredients according to recipes or customer requests.

Cooking Techniques:

Use traditional Chinese cooking methods such as stir-frying, steaming, deep-frying, braising and roasting. Operate specialized kitchen equipment, including woks, steamers and cleavers.

Menu Development:

Assist in creating or updating the menu with authentic dishes that cater to customer preferences. Incorporate seasonal ingredients and regional flavours into the menu.

Quality Control:

Ensure the consistency, taste and presentation of all dishes meet the establishment standards. Monitor food freshness, preparation and storage to maintain quality.

Kitchen Operation:

Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure smoothness of operations during busy hours. Prioritize and manage multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.

Health and Safety:

Follow food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper storage, cleaning and cooking practices. Keep workstations, utensils and cooking equipment clean and organized.

Customer Satisfaction:

Accommodate special dietary requests or modifications to dishes as needed. Ensure prompt and accurate preparation of orders to enhance the dining experience.

Experience & Education:

Proven experience as a Chinese Cook or in a similar role in a restaurant. Culinary Certification and/or Training in Chinese cooking is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
