COMPANY OVERVIEW

Ghella Canada Ltd. is part of GHELLA Group, a global leader in tunnelling and underground construction, committed to delivering innovative infrastructure solutions with safety and excellence at the core of our operations. At this time, the company is seeking a Structural Superintendent to join our team for the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) project in Toronto, supporting the successful execution of this major infrastructure initiative.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Site Interface Lead, the Structural Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the Project is delivered on schedule, within contract requirements and job cost estimates, while meeting all safety, quality, and workmanship standards. The role also includes leading all Foreman and workers associated to the scope of work with a combination of self perform and subcontracted workforce.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain site layout and develop plan for logistics around work areas.
  • Lead works on site by implementing strict Safety policies.
  • Support the Project Management team to prepare Work Plans, Method Statements and Lift Plans required for lifting operations.
  • Serve as a site authority by making sure works on site are done in accordance with Work Plans and Drawings.
  • Supervise, coordinate and monitor workforce assigned to its specific scope of work.
  • Maintain good relationship with Unions and address disputes, conflicts and grievances.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with owners, consultants and subcontractors.
  • Ensure health and safety program and quality control plans are adhered to along with project specific and local legislative site regulations and requirements.
  • Accountable for compliance with union agreements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in major projects, transit preferred.
  • Past experience with concrete works and/or shafts excavation required.
  • 8+ years of experience in a supervisory position in the Construction industry.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience on leadings projects with excellent safety scores and able to review risks and hazards associated to the scope of work.
  • Past exposure on leading self perform works with focus on assigning, coordinating and leading crews required by the scope of work.
  • Experienced in managing projects ranging between $100 million up to $5 billion.
  • Thorough knowledge of the applicable OH&S legislation.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficient Computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work the project schedule which may include weekends and/or night shift.
  • Background checks required.
