GamesLand Canada is a hobby and collectibles retailer specializing in Trading Card Games (TCGs), sports cards, board games, miniatures, collectibles, hobby accessories, and organized play events. We are passionate about creating an exceptional customer experience while fostering a welcoming and inclusive community for players, collectors, and hobby enthusiasts.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking enthusiastic, reliable, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as either a Retail Associate or Senior Retail Associate, depending on experience and qualifications.

This is a dynamic role that combines retail sales, customer service, event coordination, inventory management, e-commerce fulfillment, social media engagement, and store operations.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the hobby industry and is comfortable discussing products such as Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, Disney Lorcana, Yu-Gi-Oh!, sports trading cards, board games, miniatures, collectibles, and hobby accessories with customers of all experience levels.

Candidates should be energetic, organized, dependable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment while contributing to the growth of our gaming and collectibles community.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

  • Provide exceptional customer service and create a welcoming shopping experience.
  • Greet customers and assist them in selecting products that meet their interests and needs.
  • Demonstrate strong product knowledge across trading card games, sports cards, board games, miniatures, collectibles, and hobby accessories.
  • Build customer relationships and encourage repeat business.
  • Recommend complementary products through effective upselling and cross-selling.
  • Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
  • Respond to customer questions professionally in person, by phone, and online.

Events & Community Engagement

  • Assist with organizing and running in-store events, including tournaments, leagues, prereleases, learn-to-play events, hobby nights, and other community activities.
  • Support event registration, setup, reporting, and customer inquiries.
  • Foster a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all customers and participants.
  • Participate in social media activities, including product showcases, live streams, event coverage, and promotional content.

Inventory & Merchandising

  • Receive, verify, and process incoming inventory shipments.
  • Stock shelves and maintain organized, attractive displays.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with inventory counts.
  • Ensure products are accurately priced and properly merchandised.
  • Maintain store presentation standards at all times.

E-Commerce & Fulfillment

  • Prepare online orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Package and ship customer orders according to company procedures.
  • Respond to customer emails and online inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate online inventory and product listings as required.

Store Operations

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures.
  • Handle cash and transactions in accordance with company policies.
  • Assist with resolving customer concerns and complaints professionally.
  • Follow operational procedures and support overall store performance.

Additional Responsibilities for Senior Retail Associates

  • Open and close the store independently.
  • Prepare bank deposits and perform cash management duties.
  • Lead and oversee store events and organized play activities.
  • Assist with training and mentoring team members.
  • Support management with day-to-day operational responsibilities.
  • Act as a keyholder and trusted representative of the business.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Trading Card Games (TCGs), sports cards, board games, tabletop gaming products, miniatures, collectibles, and hobby accessories.
  • Passion for the hobby industry and staying informed about new releases and trends.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable using computers, point-of-sale systems, email, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise as required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special event days as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous retail, hobby store, gaming store, or collectibles industry experience.
  • Experience running tournaments, leagues, prereleases, or other organized play events.
  • Experience with e-commerce order fulfillment and shipping.
  • Experience with inventory management and merchandising.
  • Experience with social media content creation or live streaming.
