Full job description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tile Setter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining tile surfaces in residential and commercial projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, excellent craftsmanship, and the ability to interpret blueprints and schematics. The Tile Setter will work closely with other trades to ensure high-quality finishes and adherence to project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to determine tile layout and design.
  • Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate adhesives or mortar.
  • Cut, shape, and install various types of tiles using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Ensure precise placement of tiles for aesthetic appeal and durability.
  • Apply caulking, grout, and sealants to finish tile surfaces professionally.
  • Collaborate with carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers, and other trades to coordinate installation processes.
  • Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of debris properly.
  • Follow safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, concrete forming, masonry, welding, and other construction activities as needed.
  • Assist with restoration projects or flooring installation when required.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Tile Setter or in related construction roles such as masonry or flooring installation.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating is preferred.
  • Skilled in using hand tools such as trowels, cutters, levels, and measuring devices.
  • Experience operating power tools including wet saws, drills, and grinders.
  • Knowledge of concrete finishing, caulking techniques, cabinetry installation, painting, plumbing basics, electrical experience, heavy equipment operation, restoration work, masonry skills, welding fundamentals, and concrete forming is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics accurately.
