Are you seeking a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Metal Fabricator Fitter to join our team. This position involves working a 40-hour work week, with Day Shift and with Saturday and Sunday as off days.
What You Will Do
- Maintain and repair arc, MIG, TIG welding equipment and oxy/acetylene torches, ensuring all tools meet manufacturer and TTC standards.
- Inspect, store, and manage welding consumables to prevent contamination and damage, following CSA, ASME, and other applicable standards.
- Program and process parts for waterjet manufacturing and perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, light repairs, and manage consumable inventory for the waterjet system.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, and codes to determine fabrication requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and welding needs.
- Prepare detailed material lists for fabrication jobs.
- Plan and sequence assembly steps to minimize waste, distortion, and fabrication time.
- Organize and prepare the workspace for efficient, safe workflow and clear communication.
- Create templates by selecting materials, laying out designs, testing accuracy, and marking identification details.
- Lay out patterns and stretch-outs, including cutting, forming, and bending guides, ensuring finished components meet required tolerances.
- Assemble components using jigs, fixtures, bracing, tack welding, or fasteners to meet drawing and specification requirements.
- Perform welding using approved processes, set up equipment, install consumables, adjust parameters, and verify weld quality to CSA/ASME standards.
- Work with other trades and Technical Support Services to fabricate parts and assemblies for vehicles, shop equipment, heat treated metals, tools, gauges, and machine components.
- Prepare assemblies for shipping or storage by coating, preserving, labeling, bracing, and securing components, and completing required documentation.
- Follow all workplace safety procedures, identify hazards, use PPE properly, handle hazardous materials safely, and maintain a clean work environment in compliance with legislation and TTC policies.
- Utilize a computer terminal/lap top to input and retrieve information for work-related activities; completing own job and time cards and other routine forms, records and reports as required; list material used on special jobs

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Must hold a valid Metal Fabricator Certificate of Qualification (437A), issued by the Ontario College of Trades.
- Completion of Grade 12 or its recognized equivalent, plus the successful completion of the Metal Fabricator (Fitter) apprenticeship training program.
- You currently have a valid, non-probationary, Province of Ontario class "G" driver's license in good standing.
- Must pass tests that correspond in knowledge, theory and practical requirements of the job.
- Successfully complete a TTC approved Metallurgy course, on own time, within the first year of being in the job.
- Successful candidates must attend and successfully complete TTC training programs for forklift and pallet lift operation, safe use of hoist and overhead cranes, oxyacetylene torch awareness, WHMIS, and respiratory protection.
- This position requires wearing a respirator. Human rights accommodations on the type of respirator may be provided.
- Must complete the American Welding Society (AWS) certifications for MIG, TIG and Stick welding.
- Incumbents must provide and maintain a set of tools as per the TTC’s established tool list. Specialized tools will be provided by the TTC.
