Full job description

Penny Crown Tavern is seeking a skilled and motivated Line Cook to join our Back of House team. This role reports directly to the Head Chef and works closely with the culinary leadership team. As a Line Cook, you are responsible for executing food with consistency, precision, and care. This includes preparation, service execution, station organization, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality guest experience that reflects the energy and standards of Penny Crown.

Core Responsibilities

  • · Maintain strong knowledge of Penny Crown’s menu and standards
  • · Execute dishes with consistency, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • · Communicate effectively with chefs and team members during service
  • · Set up and organize your station for efficient service
  • · Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all work areas and equipment
  • · Support daily prep, ordering awareness, and kitchen organization
  • · Continue developing culinary skills and techniques
  • · Perform effectively under pressure while maintaining standards

Line Cook Responsibilities

  • · Food Preparation: Prepare and cook menu items to spec, ensuring quality and consistency
  • · Station Setup: Ensure your station is fully stocked and organized before service
  • · Execution: Cook and plate dishes efficiently, working in sync with the team
  • · Quality Control: Monitor taste, presentation, and portioning at all times
  • · Inventory Awareness: Communicate low stock and assist with restocking
  • · Food Safety: Follow all hygiene, sanitation, and food handling protocols
  • · Equipment Care: Maintain and clean all tools and equipment properly
  • · Recipe Adherence: Follow standardized recipes to minimize waste and ensure consistency
  • · Team Collaboration: Work closely with BOH and FOH to ensure smooth service
  • · Communication: Support clear and professional communication across the team

Facilities & Maintenanc

  • · Maintain cleanliness and organization across all kitchen areas
  • · Properly manage waste, recycling, and compost systems
  • · Report and monitor equipment issues proactively
  • · Follow all safety protocols to maintain a secure work environment
  • · Support ongoing maintenance and upkeep of the kitchen

Food Safety

REQUIREMENTS

Experience

  • · 3+ years of experience in high-volume food production or catering in a cooks position
  • · Understanding of basic pastry techniques, equipment and material
  • · Understanding of basic culinary techniques, professional cooking equipment and material
  • · Knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
  • · Food Handler’s Certification is a Must

Work Environment

Physical Demands

  • · The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time as well as walk, bend, stoop, climb, balance, kneel, and crawl
  • · The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, including close and distance vision
  • · This position requires the ability to use your arms, hands and manipulate fingers to reach, stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, decorate, etc.
  • · Repetitive hand and arm motions
  • · Lifting and/or moving up to 20 lbs. regularly; occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.
