Educator, School-Age Care

Compensation: $23.00-$26.55 per hour (inclusive of wage enhancements; dependent on qualifications)

Nature & Scope:
Reporting directly to the Supervisor, School-Age Care, the Educator will be guiding children in their physical, social, mental and emotional development, in accordance with the YMCA Child Care Program Statement and the regulations of the Child Care Early Years Act.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, organizing, directing and implementing the School-Age Care program in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA and Ministry of Education.
  • Providing a safe nurturing space for the children to learn.
  • Coordinating and supervising all aspects of this School-Age Care program, meeting or exceeding all standards required by the Ministry of Education and the YMCA.
  • Conducting all principle requirements of the position as detailed in the Educator job description.
  • Supporting all staff working at the site.

Qualifications:

  • Criminal Reference Check (CRC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more than 120 days prior to interview, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR “C”
  • Early Childhood Education diploma and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators preferred.
  • Other post-secondary education considered (Child and Youth Care, Ontario Certified Teacher, etc).
  • Experience in a licensed childcare program
  • Record of up-to-date immunizations
