Hearts Choices has been serving Calgary delicious plant-based food since 2011. We're a locally owned, award-winning vegan food business with a restaurant and two Calgary Farmers' Market locations.

We're looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic, and dependable Front of House Team Member who genuinely enjoys connecting with people, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and selling delicious food!

This is much more than a cashier position. You're the face of Hearts Choices, helping customers discover amazing vegan products, making recommendations, and creating an experience that keeps them coming back.

What You'll Be Doing

Customer Service & Sales

• Warmly welcome and engage customers, creating a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
• Proactively introduce customers to our products, offer samples, and confidently recommend items they'll love.
• Learn our menu and retail products inside and out, including ingredients, flavours, preparation methods, and dietary considerations.
• Ask thoughtful questions to understand customers' needs and help them find the perfect meal or take-home products.
• Explain our delicious vegan offerings with genuine enthusiasm, whether a customer is a lifelong vegan or trying plant-based food for the first time.
• Manage customer lineups, take food orders accurately, process payments, and keep service moving smoothly during busy periods.
• Look for opportunities to increase sales through thoughtful recommendations and product knowledge.

Daily Operations & Teamwork

• Prepare and serve food and beverages according to our standards.
• Maintain beautifully stocked, organized, and appealing displays, refrigerators, and retail areas.
• Take ownership of cleaning and sanitation duties, including counters, equipment, floors, dining areas, and bathrooms.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and opening and closing procedures.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and teammates to deliver fast, accurate, and friendly service.
• Work independently, stay productive during quieter periods, and take initiative without needing constant direction.

Who We're Looking For

Previous experience in restaurant front of house, hospitality, customer service, or retail sales is a strong asset.

We're particularly interested in people who:

• Have a naturally warm, outgoing personality and genuinely enjoy engaging with customers.
• Are confident selling products and making recommendations without being pushy.
• Communicate clearly and professionally, even during busy rushes.
• Can manage multiple priorities while staying organized and positive.
• Are reliable, punctual, accountable, and take pride in doing things properly.
• Understand that cleaning, stocking, and maintaining high standards are essential parts of great customer service.
• Are comfortable working independently and taking ownership of their responsibilities.
• Have an interest in vegan food and are excited to learn about our products.
• Can travel reliably between our restaurant and both Calgary Farmers' Market locations.

Schedule & Availability

This position involves a rotating schedule across our three Calgary locations:

• Monday: Restaurant, approximately 11:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m.
• Thursday: Calgary Farmers' Market, approximately 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Friday: Calgary Farmers' Market, approximately 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Saturday: Calgary Farmers' Market, approximately 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• Sunday: Calgary Farmers' Market, approximately 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The position is intended to provide substantial, ongoing employment, with hours potentially varying based on operational needs and the rotating schedule. Weekend availability is essential, and the schedule will generally involve up to five working days per week.
