Care Staff – Live-In Residential Program

Organization: SafeHope Home
Reports To: Manager of Care and Intake
Position Type: Part-Time / Casual

Position Summary

SafeHope Home is seeking compassionate, trauma-informed, and reliable Care Staff to support participants in our Live-In treatment Program.

Our program supports individuals impacted by human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Care Staff play a critical role in creating a safe, structured, and empowering home environment that prioritizes dignity, choice, safety, and recovery.

This role requires flexibility, emotional maturity, strong professional boundaries, and the ability to respond calmly and professionally during complex situations.

Schedule & Availability Requirements

This is a part-time/casual position requiring full flexibility and availability for all shifts, including:

  • Weekday Evenings: 4:00 PM – 10:30 PM
  • Weekday Overnights: 10:30 PM – 9:30 AM ( as needed: coverage)
  • Weekend Day Shifts: 9:30 AM – 9:30 PM (12-hour shifts) and/or 9:30 am-3:30 pm and 3:30 pm-9:30 pm.
  • Weekend Night Shifts: 9:30 PM – 9:30 AM (12-hour shifts) (as needed: coverage)

Must be available for:

  • Sick coverage
  • Vacation coverage
  • Holidays
  • Occasional schedule adjustments based on house needs

Reliability and flexibility are essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive, care to individuals impacted by human trafficking and sexual exploitation
  • Facilitate and maintain a non-judgemental, non-stigmatizing, safe, trusting, and welcoming environment for service users
  • Actively promote a sense of belonging, leadership, and empowerment for service users
  • Maintain clear and consistent professional boundaries
  • Work collaboratively with all team members including, all care support staff, program staff, management staff, and clinicians to support continuity of service delivery
  • Support program expectations of service users through daily routines and expectations, schedules, and follow through with recovery plan and goals
  • Utilize a trauma-informed, anti-racists, anti-oppressive framework
  • Adhere to crisis response and de-escalation strategies when necessary
  • Complete accurate and timely professional documentation such as: case notes, incident reports, MARS protocols
  • Support with medication, storage, reporting, and administration as needed
  • Adhere strictly to confidentiality, privacy, and agency policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with staff and management to ensure cultural safe, and trauma responsive practice are consistently applied

Residential & Household Responsibilities

· Support with activities of daily living, inclusive of: cooking and meal preparation, grocery shopping, general indoor and outdoor house maintenance, laundry support, facilitate social inclusivity and balanced daily activities

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with Management and Program Staff
  • Participate in team meetings and training
  • Follow organizational mandate, policies, and risk management procedures
  • Engage in team-based problem solving
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Diploma in SSW, Mental Health & Addictions or a related human services certificate; a combination of education and experience considered an asset
  • Minimum one year experience working in a residential setting. Experience working within the human trafficking sector, preferred
  • Knowledgeable in CASW codes of ethics and core values and principles, preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to both take professional directive and personal initiative
  • Committed to high standards of confidentiality
  • Ability to remain calm and regulated during crisis situations
  • Strong professional documentation and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of professional boundaries and ethical practice
  • Ability to work collaboratively

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Experience supporting survivors of human trafficking and/or sexual exploitation
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use challenges
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care principles
  • Knowledge of harm-reduction practices

Required:

  • Valid G Driver’s License
  • Flexible availability for evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to provide sick and vacation coverage as needed
