Job Title: Food Expediter – Ted’s Bar and Grill

Status: Seasonal (Winter)
Reports to: Ted’s Supervisor/ Lead Expeditor
Hourly wage: $18.75

Job Summary:

Love the idea of working where the air is fresh, the views are unreal, and your “commute” includes snow-capped peaks? At Mount Washington Alpine Resort, you can spend your days surrounded by adventure — and get paid for it.

As the Food Expediter at Ted’s Pub, you’ll be the link between the kitchen and the front-of-house team, helping ensure every plate that leaves the kitchen is accurate, timely, and well presented.

In a fast-paced après-ski environment, you’ll coordinate the flow of food, support communication between kitchen staff and servers, and help keep service organized. If you’re detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and enjoy being at the centre of a busy operation, this is a great opportunity to be part of the Mount Washington Alpine Resort food and beverage team.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the flow of food between the kitchen and servers to ensure accuracy and timely service
  • Checking each order for presentation, garnish, temperature, and accuracy before it leaves the pass
  • Communicating clearly with kitchen staff and servers during busy service periods
  • Keeping the expo line, heat lamps, pass area, and surrounding workspaces clean and organized
  • Ensuring the expo station is fully stocked with necessary supplies throughout service
  • Tracking order times and alerting the kitchen or service team when delays occur
  • Assisting with the organization and accuracy of take-out orders
  • Supporting food runners by helping deliver food or drinks during peak periods
  • Maintaining awareness of daily specials, menu changes, and pub features
  • Communicating menu updates and service information to servers and other front-of-house team members
  • Staying knowledgeable about mountain activities, events, and resort departments to answer guest questions when approached
  • Supporting smooth communication and service flow between the front and back of house
  • Following all food safety, health, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
  • Pitching in wherever needed — because teamwork makes the mountain run smoothly
  • Upholding high standards of food quality, presentation, organization, safety, and guest service

Resort Conditions:

Working at a Winter Resort means no two days are the same — and that's part of the adventure! You’ll get to experience a variety of unique locations, from cozy lodges to scenic mountain-top venues only accessible by chairlift. Be prepared to embrace the elements; whether it's bluebird skies, fresh snowfall, or the infamous coastal rain.

Expect to navigate multi-level lodges, steep stairways, and outdoor areas where the terrain can be sloped, snowy, or slippery, so good footwear is essential, indoors and out. Walking through large, icy parking lots is also part of the daily journey. If you love fresh air, stunning views, and a workplace that keeps you on your toes, this is the spot for you!

Why Mount Washington:

  • A FREE Seasons Pass for you, and family passes
  • Bonuses for referring new staff
  • Daily staff shuttle bus from town and the base for easy transportation
  • On-the-job training and opportunities to develop your food service and hospitality skills
  • Resort discounts, including retail, rentals, lessons, and food
  • The opportunity to work in a fun, fast-paced mountain environment
  • The chance to gain valuable experience in resort food and beverage operations and front-of-house service coordination

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant, pub, or food service environment preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong focus on food quality, accuracy, and presentation
  • Ability to coordinate effectively between kitchen and front-of-house teams
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and safe food handling procedures
  • Knowledge of mountain activities, resort events, or hospitality operations would be an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and move quickly for extended periods
  • Comfortable lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs of trays, plates, supplies, or equipment
  • Able to work in a hot, busy, and fast-paced kitchen and service environment
  • Comfortable performing repetitive walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, and organizing tasks
  • Ability to safely work around hot food, heat lamps, kitchen equipment, wet floors, and busy service areas
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak resort periods
