About Us:
At Rodan Energy, our mission is Making Sustainable, Attainable. As a leading North American energy services company, we provide innovative energy solutions that help clients reduce energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions, support electrification, and enhance grid efficiency. With over 20 years of expertise, we’re trusted by North America’s largest energy users, power producers, and utilities.
Why Join Rodan:
Life at Rodan – Our Culture:
At Rodan, we believe a great workplace goes beyond the work itself. Recognized as Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employer of 2025, we’ve built a culture rooted in collaboration, celebration, and giving back. Here’s what you can look forward to when you join the team:
Hiring Process
Rodan Energy's hiring process is designed to identify candidates who are the right fit — technically, culturally, and professionally. As part of our process, candidates should be aware of the following:
Referral Bonus: Do you know someone who would be a great fit for our team? We are offering a CAD $2,500 referral bonus for successful referrals that lead to a hire for this role, effective until further notice. Please connect with Andrew Martinez at andrew.martinez@rodanenergy.com.
Rodan Energy Solutions is committed to an inclusive, accessible recruitment and employment experience in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA). Accommodations are available upon request throughout the hiring process and, if hired, during employment. If you require an accommodation, please contact asmin.Shadir@rodanenergy.com so we can work with you to meet your needs in a manner that respects dignity, independence, integration, and equal opportunity.
- Thriving Industry: Join a rapidly growing sector at the forefront of innovation and sustainability, shaping the future of energy management.
- Product Market Fit: With a 98% client retention rate and consistent YOY growth, Rodan has built a reputation for delivering trusted, long-term partnerships with industry leaders.
- Top Talent & Strong Culture: Collaborate with high-performing, passionate individuals who are committed to excellence and sustainability.
- Executive Exposure from Day One: You will work directly with Rodan's executive leadership team on the decisions that shape the company - not three layers removed from them.
- Grow as We Grow: Rodan has set an ambitious growth agenda, and this role is built to scale with it. The mandate, the complexity of the work, and your seniority in the organization are all expected to grow alongside the company.
- Genuine Breadth: Commercial contracting, energy regulatory and policy work, corporate governance, and privacy - across Canadian and United States electricity markets. Few lawyers at this stage of their career get this range.
- Every Business Unit Is Your Client: You will be a critical partner to sales, operations, energy markets, technology, and finance, and a trusted advisor whose judgment the business relies on.
- Build the Grid of the Future: Distributed energy resources, energy storage, demand response, and electrification are reshaping how the power system works. You will be doing the legal work behind that change, not reading about it.
- Build, Don't Just Review: This is a role for a creative thinker and solution builder. You will help design the templates, playbooks, and processes that let a lean legal function support a fast-scaling business.
- Draft, negotiate, and manage a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, master services agreements, vendor and procurement agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and channel and partnership agreements.
- Support major corporate development files, including project development, mergers & acquisitions, and financings.
- Act as a hands-on legal partner to business units across the organization, delivering pragmatic, commercially grounded advice on live deals, bids, and operational issues.
- Support Rodan's participation in wholesale and retail electricity markets, including the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in Ontario, PJM Interconnection, the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), and the Alberta market - including market participant agreements, registration requirements, and tariff and compliance obligations.
- Develop and execute plans to support new market entry, including contracting strategies, ensuring regulatory alignment, and adequate legal resourcing.
- Engage in energy law and policy development on behalf of Rodan, including monitoring regulatory proceedings, preparing submissions and comments, and representing the company in stakeholder consultations with regulators, system operators, and industry associations.
- Support corporate governance matters, including resolutions, minute books, subsidiary maintenance, and entity management across Rodan's Canadian and United States corporate group.
- Own privacy, data protection, and intellectual property matters, including customer and metering data handling, compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable United States privacy law, software and licensing terms, and the trademark portfolio.
- Identify, escalate, and help manage legal and commercial risk across the business, and support the continued build-out of legal templates, playbooks, and processes that scale.
- Manage Rodan’s insurance portfolio.
- A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial law society. Candidates admitted outside Ontario are welcome to apply, with the expectation of a call to the bar of Ontario through the Law Society of Ontario (LSO) within a reasonable period of joining.
- Two to five years of post-call experience at a leading law firm and/or in an in-house legal department.
- Top-notch contract drafting and negotiation skills, with the confidence to hold the pen across a wide range of commercial agreements and to run negotiations directly with counterparties.
- A pragmatic approach to advising the business: clear, actionable advice framed around what the business is trying to achieve, with risk explained in terms decision-makers can act on.
- Excellent business and legal judgment, including the ability to make calls with incomplete information and the instinct to know when a matter needs to be escalated.
- A creative thinker and solution builder who looks for the path to yes rather than stopping at the obstacle.
- Prior experience in the energy, power, utilities, or infrastructure sector - or a genuine, demonstrated commitment to making a hard pivot into it. This role requires a candidate whose interest extends beyond the traditional four corners of law practice and into the broader industry context in which Rodan operates.
- A willingness to engage in energy law and policy development, and comfort representing Rodan in external stakeholder and regulatory settings.
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving, high-growth environment, is comfortable with ambiguity, and can manage competing priorities across many internal clients.
- Exposure to United States or cross-border commercial and regulatory matters is an asset.
- This is a hybrid role based out of Rodan's head office in Mississauga, Ontario.
- Base Salary - $135,000 - $190,000 Annually
- Profit sharing
- Comprehensive health benefits package
- Group RRSP with employer matching
Life at Rodan – Our Culture:

- Summer Fun: Annual summer BBQ and half-day Fridays throughout the summer so you can enjoy the season.
- Celebrations Throughout the Year: We mark occasions and holidays all year long with team events including holiday parties, team dinners, bowling nights, go-karting, golf tournaments, and more.

Hiring Process

- Background Check: As part of our hiring process, the successful candidate will be required to complete a background check, which may include a criminal record check and credential verification. Professional references will also be collected as part of the process.
- Assignment: Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a practical assignment. This is an opportunity to demonstrate your strategic thinking, creativity, and approach to real-world challenges relevant to the role.
Referral Bonus: Do you know someone who would be a great fit for our team? We are offering a CAD $2,500 referral bonus for successful referrals that lead to a hire for this role, effective until further notice. Please connect with Andrew Martinez at andrew.martinez@rodanenergy.com.
