Full job description
The Before and After School Facilitator is responsible for providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children aged 3.8 years to 12 years participating in the CRCNCW Before and After School Program. Working collaboratively within a team-based setting, the Facilitator plans and implements developmentally appropriate, play-based programming that reflects children's interests while supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. This position reports to the Childcare Offsite Supervisor.
Please Read Before Applying: The position is a part-time split shift. The regular scheduled shift is Monday to Friday from 7:00AM to 9:00AM AND 3:00PM to 6:00PM. There will be additional pre-scheduled training and planning hours of up to 3 hours per week.
The position is in person in Centre Wellington, Ontario. There is no public transportation in Centre Wellington. The successful candidates will need to have access to reliable transportation or personal vehicle.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Secondary School Diploma;
- Must be 18 years of age or older;
- Experience in licensed childcare and/or recreational setting (ie. Summer Camp), an asset;
- Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check;
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C;
- Ability to lift and carry children (up to approximately 40 lbs), bend, sit, and stand for extended periods of time;
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions;
- Comfortable working in a busy, active environment with a moderate to high noise level;
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations, including providing first aid as required;

Job Responsibilities:
Child Supervision & Safety
- Supervise children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring their safety and well-being;
- Maintain a clean, safe, and engaging environment in accordance with licensing standards, Ministry of Education requirements, and CRCNCW policies;
- Ensure appropriate supervision during transitions, outdoor play, snacks, field trips (when applicable), and daily routines;
- Respond appropriately to illness, injuries, emergencies, and behavioural incidents in accordance with agency policies.
Program Support & Implementation
- Plan, prepare, and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate programming that reflects children's interests and encourages exploration, creativity, and active participation;
- Develop activities that support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while recognizing the unique needs of school-aged children;
- Prepare materials and resources for programming, including creating shopping lists within an established budget as required;
- Adapt programming to meet the diverse abilities, interests, and needs of children;
- Support children's independence, leadership, and problem-solving skills through positive interactions and meaningful experiences.
Communication & Family Interaction
- Establish and maintain positive, respectful, and professional relationships with children, families, school staff, and colleagues;
- Communicate with families regarding their child's daily experiences, achievements, and any concerns as appropriate;
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all communications.
Documentation & Administration
- Maintain accurate attendance records and daily documentation as required;
- Complete incident, accident, medication, and other required documentation in accordance with CRCNCW policies and licensing requirements;
- Submit required documentation to the Supervisor within established timelines;
- Support the Childcare Office Administrator by ensuring child and family information remains current.
Team Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with fellow Facilitators, Supervisors, and other CRCNCW staff to provide consistent, high-quality programming;
- Participate actively in staff meetings, planning meetings, agency meetings, and professional development opportunities;
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to support other program locations when operationally required;
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and supportive team environment.
Administrative Support
- Participate in regular check-ins with the Childcare Offsite Supervisor regarding program operations, child concerns, and family communication;
- Report concerns regarding children's safety, behaviour, well-being, or program operations promptly;
- Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Education licensing requirements, CRCNCW policies, and organizational procedures.
