Wok Cook / Line Cook Hiring

MaKaam Modern Artisan Thai is looking for a passionate, reliable, and hardworking Wok Cook / Line Cook to join our kitchen team at Time Out Market Vancouver. Position Type

Working Hours:

Shifts vary based on business needs and may include morning (10 am), evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: Starting $60K + Tips / year

Key Responsibilities

Wok Cooking

• Operate wok station efficiently during service hours.
• Cook menu items according to MaKaam recipes and plating standards.
• Manage multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining food quality and timing.
• Maintain proper cooking temperatures and techniques.

Fryer, Cold Kitchen & Prep Operations

• Operate the deep fryer safely and efficiently during service hours.
• Prepare fried menu items with proper timing, texture, and presentation according to MaKaam standards.
• Prepare and plate cold kitchen items, including Mango Sticky Rice and other desserts, with consistency and attention to detail.
• Prepare Thai Tea and specialty beverages following standardized recipes and quality standards.
• Prepare ingredients daily, including washing, cutting, portioning, marinating, and organizing meats, seafood, vegetables, herbs, and sauces.
• Prepare house sauces, curry pastes, marinades, and seasonings as required.
• Ensure all ingredients and prepared items are properly labeled, dated, and stored.
• Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages to kitchen management.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and equipment.
• Follow health, sanitation, and food safety regulations at all times.
• Support opening and closing duties and assist team members during busy service periods.

Requirements & QualificationsExperience

• Previous experience in Thai, Asian, or high-volume restaurant kitchens preferred.
• Experience with wok burners and deep fryers is an asset.
• Understanding of kitchen workflow and fast-paced service environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods.
