Instructor - Auxiliary

Scope


The City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is currently recruiting Auxiliary Recreation Instructors to deliver a diverse range of adult cooking programs. We are seeking experienced instructors who can teach a variety of culinary and baking styles, including Indian cuisine and plant-based bowl dishes, as well as other popular cuisines such as Italian, Mexican, Thai, Korean, Japanese, and desserts.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for participants.
  • Plans, prepares, and delivers engaging adult cooking and/or baking programs for varying skill levels.
  • Develops lesson plans, recipes, and program materials as required.
  • Provides quality instruction and leadership while ensuring programs run on schedule.
  • Follows food safety, nutrition, and program guidelines, promoting healthy food choices.
  • Sets up, maintains, and cleans program spaces, equipment, and supplies.
  • Delivers excellent customer service and builds positive participant relationships.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm, creativity, adaptability, organization, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C with AED certification.
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • Demonstrated experience working with participants of diverse ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, creative, and interactive instructional programs.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively adapt to varying participant needs and program environments.
  • High Five certification is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience as an instructor or leading cooking, baking, or recreation programs is considered an asset.

Hourly Rate: $23.83

Conditions of Employment


This position requires completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
