About Us

Ong Ba is a new restaurant opening in Coquitlam, showcasing a modern interpretation of Vietnamese cuisine and hospitality. We focus on vibrant flavours, thoughtful presentation, and warm, energetic service. Our goal is to create a dining experience that feels both elevated and approachable — where genuine hospitality and attention to detail are at the heart of everything we do.

Position Summary

The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, leading the front-of-house team, maintaining service standards, and ensuring an outstanding guest experience. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, people-focused, and ready to grow into senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily front-of-house operations while maintaining exceptional service standards.
  • Supervise, coach, and motivate the service team during each shift.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members.
  • Assist with scheduling, labour management, and payroll preparation.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, liquor regulations, health, and workplace safety standards.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and turn challenges into positive experiences.
  • Monitor restaurant cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation throughout service.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and cost control initiatives.
  • Support the achievement of sales, labour, and profitability targets.
  • Work closely with the kitchen leadership to ensure seamless communication and execution.
  • Help implement operational systems, policies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of front-of-house operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions.
  • Experience with POS systems and restaurant scheduling software.
  • Valid Serving It Right certification (required).
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification is an asset.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
