Full job description

Position: Grocery Manager
Company: Stock T.C
Location: 2388 Yonge Street, Toronto

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Wage: $21 – $25 an hour (based on experience)

As manager, you will be responsible for helping the Marketplace meet service, sales, and profit objectives, along with supervising and directing associates in daily work activities. You will assist the general manager with ensuring proper training of new employees, formulating work schedules, and maintaining good customer and public relations within the marketplace and community.

Your excellent qualifications also include:

  • Two to three years' experience as a floor manager or the equivalent as an assistant manager, supervisor or team leader in a grocery store or marketplace
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Ability to manage complex scheduling and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organization skills
  • Able to lead, engage, and motivate a large staff
  • Impeccable and proven customer service skills
  • Solid experience with POS systems, OpenTable, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Prepared to work on the floor serving customers and/or restocking shelves and refrigerators
  • Demonstrate exceptional product knowledge, including awareness of product changes, promotions, and seasonal trends
  • Minimize out-of-stock and overstock to ensure fresh merchandise
  • Accountable for departmental financial objectives
  • Actively demonstrate a leadership style which embraces a passion for food and motivates employee productivity, engagement, and retention
  • Ensure correct ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, and rotation of merchandise and building of displays to maximize sales
  • Receive all incoming products and inspect the items for freshness and quality
  • Responsible for all department administrative duties including reconciling products received with packing slips, purchase orders, and invoices
  • Responsible for ensuring that OHSA, food safety, and other regulatory requirements and procedures are implemented and maintained
  • Create a shopping experience that engages customers in a way that enhances loyalty, sales, and profit
  • Provide superior customer service to meet customer needs
  • Answer customers' emails and inquiries
  • Assist customers with catering and holiday orders
