Fibre Optic & Security Alarm Technician – Installation & Service (FTTH) - TELUS

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Fibre Optic & Security alarm Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, terminating, and testing fibre optic services and installing smart home security devices for residential TELUS customers. This includes running fibre from the outside plant to customer premises, performing splicing, and ensuring reliable internet connectivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) services from outside plant to residential properties
  • Run and secure fibre drop from pedestal to customer premises
  • Perform fibre splicing (fusion/mechanical) and proper termination
  • Install and configure ONT/modem and ensure internet connectivity
  • Test fibre lines using appropriate tools (power meter, OTDR if required)
  • Troubleshoot signal loss, connectivity issues, and physical line faults
  • Ensure all installations meet safety and quality standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation of installs, splicing, and service work
  • Provide clear communication to customers regarding service setup and usage
  • Plan and execute installations by evaluating site requirements and ensuring proper setup
  • Run wiring, program, and calibrate equipment
  • Test systems to ensure proper functionality and resolve any issues
  • Work closely with customers to explain system operation and address any concerns
  • Identify customer needs during service calls and recommend suitable telecom solutions
  • Actively upsell and cross-sell mobility plans, add-ons, TV packages, internet upgrades, and smart home products
  • Educate customers on features, benefits, pricing, and promotions in a clear and professional manner
  • Complete sales orders, activations, and documentation accurately using company systems and partner portals
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales targets, conversion rates, and quality metrics.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in fibre optic installation and splicing (FTTH preferred)
  • Experience working with outside plant (underground drops)
  • Familiarity with fusion splicing equipment and fibre testing tools
  • Sales experience is a must – You will have plenty of opportunities to earn commissions!
  • Prior experience in security system installation, service, or troubleshooting is an asset
  • Must have a white SUV or white van
  • Willingness to travel as needed for installations
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Basic security system hand tools preferred
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
  • Eager to learn new technology and products
