Job Title: Youth Cultural & JEDI Support Worker

Hours: 10-12 hours per week - part-time temporary position (posting closes Oct 19, 2026)

Job Summary: The Youth Cultural & JEDI Support Worker builds respectful, culturally safer and purposeful relationship with youth, young adults and families accessing Foundry Kootenay Boundary. The position supports youth and families to navigate services and resources, while helping create inclusive, culturally relevant opportunities that foster identity, belonging, wellness and connection.

Working collaboratively with Foundry Kootenay Boundary, KBCSC, community partners and other service providers, this role brings a cultural, equity and community-informed perspective to service delivery. The position also identifies barriers and gaps experienced by youth and families and contributes ideas and recommendations to improve accessibility, responsiveness and inclusion.

Reports to: Program Manager

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Build trusting, respectful and culturally safer relationships with youth, young adults and families.
• Participate in outreach and engagement activities to increase awareness of Foundry Kootenay Boundary and available community resources.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, service providers, youth, families and other partners.
• Identify systemic barriers, inequities and service gaps affecting youth and families and share recommendations for improving services.
• Support special events, community activities and other engagement opportunities.
• Participate in planning, coordination and service-related meetings as required.
• Work collaboratively with Foundry Kootenay Boundary staff, KBCSC, Foundry Central Office, contracted providers and other community service providers.

Deliverables

The position will contribute to:

• Culturally relevant and equitable youth engagement activities.
• Outreach and relationship-building within the community.
• Facilitation and co-facilitation of groups, activities and events.
• Culturally safer and inclusive service navigation.
• Feedback and recommendations related to Foundry practices, policies and procedures.
• Monthly activity summaries outlining activities, participation, emerging themes, barriers, recommendations and issues requiring follow-up.
• Collaborative planning and service delivery within the Foundry Kootenay Boundary model.

• Understanding of the needs, strengths, and priorities of local Indigenous communities, as well as those of youth from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds, including how racism and other barriers may affect their experiences and access to services.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience working with youth, young adults and/or families in community, social service, cultural or wellness settings.
• Knowledge and understanding of culturally safer, trauma-informed and equity-informed practices.
• Understanding of the systemic barriers and inequities that can impact youth and families.
• Strong relationship-building, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work respectfully across cultures, identities and lived experiences.
• Experience facilitating groups, activities, gatherings or community events is an asset.
• Strong community connection and knowledge of local services and resources is an asset.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organization, problem-solving and follow-through skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and respectful service delivery.

Pay: $30.75-$35.29 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Castlegar, BC V1N 3N9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

• AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (required)

Experience:
