Full job description

We are currently seeking an organized and professional Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary to support a busy law office practicing civil litigation. The successful candidate will provide administrative and legal support, assist with the preparation and organization of legal documents, and help ensure the day-to-day operations of the office run efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and legal support to lawyers
  • Prepare, format, edit, and proofread legal correspondence and documents
  • Draft routine correspondence, letters, and other legal documentation as directed
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical client files
  • Manage calendars, appointments, deadlines, and scheduling
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties
  • Assist with filing and serving legal documents
  • Monitor and organize incoming emails, correspondence, and documentation
  • Perform data entry, scanning, photocopying, filing, and general office administration
  • Assist with opening and closing client files
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and legal information
  • Provide additional administrative support as required

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or in a law office environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting a civil litigation practice is considered a strong asset
  • Familiarity with Ontario court procedures and legal documentation is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and general office software
  • Professional and comfortable communicating with clients and legal professionals
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a professional office environment

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour
