POSITION TITLE: Telecommunication Tower Rigger

LOCATION: Greater City of Sudbury

COMPANY:

SUMMARY:

We are now hiring a full-time Tower Rigger based out of our Sudbury location to support Northern Ontario. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of field related duties: install wireless systems on towers and structures up to 500 feet including monopoles, self-supported and guyed towers, grain elevators and silos and water towers. Climb towers and structures daily to install, replace or update antennas, radios and other devices as needed and assist with wireless installations and service calls.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Install wireless systems on towers/structures up to 500 feet including but not limited to monopoles, self supports and guyed towers.

· Climb towers daily to install, replace or update antennas, radios and other devices.

· Tower climbing and rope access.

. Install and test telecommunication equipment (antennas, microwave, cable lines, switches, battery backup AC/DC systems).

· Install structural steel, cable tray, conduits, antenna mounts, antennas, and transmission lines.

· Proper inspection and use of personal safety equipment.

· Work safely on towers and structures incorporating 100% tie-off fall protection practices.

· Ensure that all company equipment is well maintained and in safe operating condition.

· Properly support, assemble, and activate new technology from top to bottom of towers and structures.

· Install equipment for all major suppliers.

· RF sweeps, antenna testing.

· Assist with wireless installations and service calls as needed.

· Perform tower site maintenance involving emergency generators, batteries, power equipment, CAT5 and CAT6 cabling.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Prefer one year experience as a rigger in telecommunications, but willing to train.
  • Prefer experience working in the telecom industry
  • Be familiar and able to identify tower parts, antenna mounts, and components or willingness to learn.
  • Prefer experience/ understanding in installing and aligning antennas, transmission lines, hangers, grounding and communication equipment, but will train
  • Prefer experience climbing towers, servicing equipment at various heights, or experience working at heights
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
  • A clean background check with no prior offenses or convictions on record.
  • Willing to work outdoors and be exposed to all types of weather.
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 pounds unaided.
  • Successful completion of all applicable safety courses and certifications.
  • Working knowledge in Fall Protection practice and procedures and tower top rescue.
  • Rigging experience and/or willingness to learn about lifting equipment to elevations
  • Mechanical aptitude; general construction and tool manipulation.
  • Must be reliable and trustworthy.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers.
  • Completes work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Regular time & attendance is an essential job function.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Good people skills with the ability to build relationships.
  • Well organized with good time management skills.
  • A positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Trucks/tools/climbing gear all provided.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional overtime.
  • Ability to travel out of town for overnight work as required.

HOURS OF WORK: Days, afternoons, evenings & weekend shifts available

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
