Brief summary of the job:
The Edging Technician is responsible for edging, mounting, and fitting prescription lenses into a variety of eyewear frames while ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer prescriptions. This role requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work with specialized optical equipment and tools. The Edging Technician plays a critical role in delivering high-quality finished eyewear that meets customer expectations and prescription requirements.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Understand and identify various prescription lens and frame types.

Operate lens edging equipment and related optical tools according to established procedures.

Mount and dismount prescription lenses into a wide variety of plastic and other frame styles.

Manually size and adjust lenses when required to ensure proper fit within frames.

Spot and dot lenses accurately according to prescription axis specifications.

Use optical hand tools and equipment for mounting, adjusting, and securing lenses in frames.

Verify that completed eyewear meets quality standards and prescription requirements.

Inspect lenses and frames for defects, damage, or fitting issues prior to completion.

Follow all workplace safety procedures and company policies.

Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area.

Accurately complete production records and documentation as required.

Assist with other optical laboratory functions and production duties as assigned.

· Compliance with our Health and Safety policy in the laboratory

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to understand prescription lenses, frame types, and optical assembly processes.

· Experience mounting and fitting prescription lenses into eyewear frames is preferred.

· Experience with grooving and drilling

· Experience mounting specialty frames; experience with Silhouette, Gold & Wood, Cartier, and Lindberg would be considered an asset

· Knowledge of final inspection

· Ability to perform detailed manual work with a high degree of precision and accuracy.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

· Comfortable using optical tools and equipment.

· Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Background knowledge of final inspection processes is considered an asset but is not required.
