Job description:

The Technical Sales Support provides expert technical assistance to clients and internal teams regarding Morbern’s vinyl products. This role requires strong knowledge of vinyl manufacturing processes, product specifications, and performance characteristics. The specialist acts as a technical subject matter expert in client interactions, participates in meetings to support product application and performance, and troubleshoots issues to ensure solutions meet customer requirements and quality standards. This position reports to the Director of Research and Development.

Key Responsibilities

Client Technical Support

  • Serve as a primary technical contact for customers regarding Morbern products.
  • Attend meetings (virtual and in-person) with clients to review product specifications, performance expectations, and application requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance on product selection, usage, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Support sales and customer service teams with technical documentation and expertise.

Product & Process Knowledge

  • Maintain deep knowledge of Morbern’s vinyl manufacturing processes, including coating, embossing, finishing, and quality control.
  • Understand product specifications such as thickness, durability, flame resistance, UV stability, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance.
  • Interpret technical data sheets and translate them into practical solutions for customers.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams to address product performance concerns.
  • Participate in customer project discussions and act as technical liaison to customers.
  • Provide technical support to Morbern resources such as sales, customer service and the R&D team.

Documentation & Training

  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and product documentation.
  • Training of Technical Field Support personnel.
  • Support internal training sessions on Morbern vinyl products and applications.
  • Assist in developing technical manuals and specification guides for clients.

Qualifications

Education

  • Degree in Chemistry, or Materials Science, or a demonstratable understanding of science.

Experience

  • Preferably 3–5 years of experience in technical support, manufacturing, or product engineering, ideally within the vinyl, textiles, coatings, or any industry that uses plastic products.
  • Experience attending customer meetings and providing technical consultation.
  • Experience in concept to commercial polymeric materials product development.
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into viable and scalable material technologies.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material specifications.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, production, and R&D teams.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Bilingual with Spanish or French a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid office/onsite - manufacturing environment.
  • Regular travel to customer sites or facilities.
  • Participation in client meetings across different time zones when required.
  • Ability to travel across Canada, USA, Europe and Mexico to meet with clients.
  • To be within an hour commute from Cornwall, ON.
