Technical Solutions Specialist IBM jobs

We are looking for an IBM i Programmer to contribute to the development and support of business-critical applications. This position suits a hands-on, detail-oriented software specialist who can build, enhance, and maintain reliable solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile setting. The successful candidate will help improve system performance, resolve technical issues, and deliver quality code that supports day-to-day operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain applications on IBM i platforms to support core business functions.
• Work with team members and stakeholders to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot defects, investigate root causes, and implement fixes to improve application stability and performance.
• Participate in code reviews, sprint activities, and backlog discussions within an Agile Scrum environment.
• Build and support backend components and integrations using appropriate programming languages and development tools.
• Monitor application behaviour, document changes, and contribute to ongoing system optimization efforts.
• Use bug tracking and project management tools such as Jira to manage tasks, issues, and delivery progress.
• Assist with technical updates, enhancements, and other system-related changes as required across the software lifecycle.

10+ years of development experience on IBM System i, specifically in maintaining and supporting production environments.
10+ years exposure in RPG, RPG/ILE, SQL/400 stored procedures, and query development.
Experience working with Synon/2E (CA 2E).
Strong ability to learn quickly and effectively support existing technologies such as Synon.
Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.
Solid business analysis skills and a customer service-oriented mindset.
