Summit Academy is a co-educational independent school founded in 2017 with students in Junior Primary to Grade 9. Academic rigour, active learning – both in and out of the classroom – and daily physical activity are the foundation of our Academy’s approach to educating passionate learners. Providing a high-quality education to our children is truly an important responsibility and one that we take seriously.
Our culture is unique. Academic excellence, where our students are encouraged to reach their full potential, is blended with values such as integrity, innovation, social justice, respect and collaboration; these values are at the forefront of everything we do.
We also offer sport-specific programming, as well as athletic clubs that participate in interscholastic sports to enhance our school spirit and community feel. Education is a gift and educating children is not only our passion, but also one of the greatest responsibilities we have as a society.
We are seeking enthusiastic and innovative applicants to become part of our highly engaged, progressive, and professional faculty for the position listed above. Candidates with strong classroom management skills are preferred. Responsibilities will also include active participation in the co-curricular life of the school. Candidates will be adept at, and comfortable using, technology to supplement and support curriculum development and delivery. Ideal candidates will have coaching experience and/or experience working with developmental hockey programs, with a strong background in teaching young children how to skate.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (in Education or a related field).
- Background in Physical Education, supported by relevant credentials or teaching experience.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to different teaching environments and grade levels.
- Passion for education and a commitment to student success.
- Preference will be given to those qualified teachers who can also participate in our skating and hockey development programs.
All candidates must have permanent residency status or citizenship in Canada. In addition, Summit Academy is committed to providing a safe educational environment for our students and staff. All qualified applicants will be required to provide a clear Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector) and Child Abuse Registry Check prior to commencement of employment.
Applications will be reviewed upon receipt. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume, and references to the attention of Shauna Wall, Head of School, indicating which position he/she is applying for. Applications should be sent to jobs@summitacademy.ca. Summit Academy is an equal opportunity employer, and offers a positive working environment, competitive salaries, and benefits. Only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
