Full job description

About Brightway

Brightway Montessori Academy is a newly built space near Yonge & Eglinton and we’re building something different.

We’re creating a calm, nurturing, authentic Montessori environment where children feel safe, capable, and at home - in a space that is modern, natural, and zen. No cookie-cutter daycare vibe. No loud plastic chaos. More “exhale” and less “overstimulated.”

If you’ve ever walked into a childcare centre and thought, “this could be done so much better” - you’ll probably get what we’re building.

The Role

We’re looking for a Head Montessori Teacher who genuinely believes in the Montessori philosophy and wants to create a classroom where children develop independence, confidence, and a love of learning.

This role focuses on guiding the work cycle, preparing the environment, observing children carefully, and supporting their natural curiosity.

You will work closely with the Supervisor and classroom assistants to build a respectful, calm classroom culture from day one.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and maintain a beautiful, organized Montessori environment
  • Guide children through the Montessori work cycle
  • Present Montessori materials and support children’s independence
  • Observe children and document developmental progress
  • Foster a calm, respectful classroom community
  • Support grace and courtesy lessons
  • Communicate professionally with families
  • Work collaboratively with assistants and other educators
  • Help maintain classroom routines, safety, and ratios

Who You Are

You’re calm, patient, and observant. You believe children are capable and deserving of respect.

You’re also:

  • Passionate about Montessori education in practice
  • Comfortable guiding children toward independence
  • Organized and attentive to detail
  • A supportive team player
  • Warm and professional with families

Requirements

  • Montessori certification (AMI, MACTE, or equivalent preferred)
  • Experience working in a Montessori environment as a lea teacher
  • Knowledge of Child Care and Early Years Act requirements
  • Current First Aid/CPR-C
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (or ability to obtain)
  • French language skills an asset

Compensation & Perks

  • Discounted childcare (once operational)
  • Transit accessible location
  • Coffee and snacks provided
  • Health benefits may be added later as the centre grows

How to Apply

Apply with your resume and a short note answering:

  • Your Montessori training and experience
  • Your approach to supporting children’s independence
  • What excites you about helping launch a new Montessori environment

Pay: $28.00-$33.00 per hour

Experience:

  • Montessori teaching: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • AMI/ MACTE Montessori Diploma (required)

Work Location: In person
