Job Summary
Stswecemc Xgattem First Nation (SXFN) is hiring two full-time teachers for Rosie Seymour Elementary/Secondary School (RSESS): a Primary Teacher for Grades K4–3 and an Intermediate Teacher for Grades 4–7. RSESS is a First Nation-operated school with 16 students, following the BC curriculum in partnership with First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) and First Nations Scholls Association (FNSA) to support student success.

Rosie Seymour is located in Stswecemc (Canoe Creek), BC, a semi-remote community approximately one hour west of Clinton by gravel road.

Teachers at RSESS, under the direction of the Principal, plan and deliver BC curriculum lessons and related programming.

Compensation and Benefits

SXFN offers a competitive salary, aligned with School District #74 and based on qualifications and experience, along with:

· Ongoing professional development through FNSA.

SXFN territory offers access to fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, and the Fraser River, located just 10 kilometres from the community.

Qualifications

· Minimum Bachelor of Education degree

· Valid BC teaching certification or eligibility for certification through the BC Teacher Regulation Branch

· TQS category or equivalent

Conditions of Employment

  • Able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid BC driver’s licence (Class IV is an asset)
  • Access to a reliable vehicle in good operating condition, with appropriate insurance to meet program requirements
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid WCB-approved Level 1 First Aid Certificate

Pay: $60,076.00-$107,036.00 per year
