Job Description:
As an integral part of TD Securities’ Global Energy group, TD Energy Advisors is a team of engineering, geoscience and creative service specialists within the Global Energy Investment Banking group. Our team provides execution and technical expertise, energy sector market intelligence and strategic technical direction as it relates to transactions and financial advisory. TD Energy Advisors are active across the energy value chain, notably in oil & gas (upstream and infrastructure) and energy transition themes (processes, technology and upstream transition strategy).

The role will be responsible for executing detailed technical analyses supporting TD's financial and strategic advisory services, including the integration of engineering, geological and financial information. The candidate will work on a blend of acquisition, divestiture and merger mandates for oil & gas and new energies. The role is often called upon to develop and present substantiated opinions, risk and upside characterization, valuation and periodic generation of new business development opportunities that support the Global Energy franchise.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Professional Engineer designation or nearing designation)
  • 4-10 years of petroleum engineering experience in the Canadian energy industry (experience in other jurisdictions is beneficial but not required)
  • Strong understanding of reservoir engineering and geology
  • Familiarity with all pieces of the value chain (sub-surface, operations, facilities, downstream); operations experience is an asset
  • Strong experience with common industry software (Geoscout, Value Navigator, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Relevant experience or a desire to be involved in energy transition initiatives

Relevant Experience
  • Solid knowledge of various plays/reservoirs, industry participants and marquee assets
  • Experience in reserves and resource assessment including familiarity with detailed technical inputs, ability to construct and defend type curves, and understand scheduling nuances
  • Worked in a multidisciplined team that has planned, budgeted and executed a business plan
  • Solid understanding of what drives economic performance and profitability, capable of defining and calculating common financial terminology and metrics (net present value, rate of return, recycle ratio, cash flow, debt, etc.)
  • Ability to leverage large datasets and demonstrated abilities with advanced analytics and data visualization tools (Tableau, Spotfire, etc.)
  • Can develop and articulate opinions, verbally and written
  • Ability to formulate opinions or recommendations, at times with limited information
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a strong ability to work with various technical and financial disciplines and capability to represent the firm with current and future clients
